    1 week in the Caribbean...

So i just got back from a trip to Puerto Rico (work trip) and man that place is not for people who had weight loss surgery. 1st there is no sugar free anything. especially drinks. No sugar free gatorade, powerade ect... Nothing low carb. Bread is a huge huge part of everything. I even went to a walmart and nothing. just some protein bars and such. Only protein shakes i could find were just regular ensure and some other strange brand i have not seen. Best part was i finally fit in a coach seat without issue. before i would spill over to the next seat or be so tight it would be so uncomfortable. Now i fit perfect with plenty of room to spare. Got to say i am happy to be back.

    Well, it's confirmed....

I think it's because our pyloric valve is bypassed, so the med will just go through the stoma and into our small intestine once it's small enough to pass through. So they don't stay in our stomachs long enough for that (extended release). At least, I think that's why...

    Eating too fast!

I came back to share something else because I've just done it for one of only a handful of times ever. Don't ever eat quickly from a big container of food. It's impossible to tell how much has gone in. I just made stew and thought I would eat it from the pot. To save me washing up one plate. A big mistake and one that slower eaters wouldn't make, so there's another good reason to stick to the rule. 😢

My advice for what its worth would be, 1 Rest when your body says so, have a nap whenever you can. 2 Don't rush the process, your stomach has a massive wound in it and will be swollen and sore, hence the need for liquid and puree stages. 3 Remember the 3 week stall, you won't panic when you stop loosing weight. 4 Don't compare yourself to anyone else. This is your weight loss journey. No two journeys are the same. Good luck and keep us posted of your progress

    Weight loss stalling?

I'm only in week 6 post-op and had a very hard time getting in all my fluids for WEEKS after surgery. The protein was difficult, too. Felt like I was CONSTANTLY drinking or eating and everything gave me nausea. In all of my Googling, I read that dehydration can absolutely bring weight loss to a halt as well as not getting sufficient protein. When I was finally able to meet my daily goals of both last week, the pounds started falling off, one to two pounds a DAY. I know that is crazy and it won't last too much longer, but I was grateful for the breakthrough. Also, any diet less than 1,200 calories will negatively impact your metabolism in the long run and really slow weight loss or bring it to a stop. So, if you're further down the road post-op and eating regular foods, check your calorie intake. All of this advice is armchair dietitian advice sourced from Dr. Google. Lol I just thought they were interesting finds.
