March 7th, I'm getting the bypass! My first appointment was the very end of December, so it's been a whirlwind. I'm excited! Edit: I was so excited, I made a typo 🤣 first appointment was end of November. Still fast...but not crazy crazy fast!

Its monthly weigh in time. I weigh myself and take measurements around the 4th of every month. Small changes continue. I joined a gym recently. Cant wait to start going.

    February 2023 surgery dates!

Kept busy all morning. Checked in for pre-op and keeping my nerves under control. My tween gave me a stuffy and a card to remind me that I am strong and I've got this!

    Dating in your 60s

Hi, thanks for the advice. And of course I have thought of that and belong to many different groups. The problem is I’m physically limited as to what I can do. I used to hike a lot, very good wsy yo meet men, can’t do that anymore. Some groups I can still do, like bookclub is all female. I used to sail a lot, but can’t do that right now until I get my shoulder fixed I do get to the dog park everyday! Even gentle yoga I belong to is all female. I used to live at the gym, but again I’m so limited on what I can do, mentally I’m better off exercising at home and walking my dog.

    February 2023 surgery dates!

Hi all, I'm new here. My surgery date for the gastric sleeve has been scheduled for 02/28/2023. I'm extremely nervous and second guessing my decision. I have been trying different protein powders and shakes and most of them make me sick. I worry that if this is how I'm reacting to these prior to surgery that It will be worst after surgery. Any suggestions?

    Carbonated Beer

I don't have issues with carbonation and it is not forbidden on my plan either. We are just told to limit it and of course, only if your belly is ok with it. I don't drink beer, but I do have alcohol sometimes and diet soda sometimes. Ok with both. Although, try the alcohol safely at home as it hits everyone so different. Most people get drunk super easy but sober up even quicker. For me, I get drunk quick but I don't sober up. I stay drunk just as I would before surgery. But I get drunk VERY drunk with much less alcohol. Be safe, follow your plan. Best of luck!

You’ve got this. This part is the worst but it will make soft food and the next stages more gratifying. Those egg whites will never taste as good as they do straight after getting off liquids. Sleep more if you can to pass the days. You can do this.

    Question About BMI

The BMI is a flawed guide, with "guide" being the operative word. I'm *JUST* in the "normal BMI" range now, and I'm a US6-8/AU10-12, at 5 foot 7 inches. My collarbone, neck tendons, chest bones all stick out, I can see my ribs, my muscles and tendons in my arms etc. I can even see my hip bones through the loose skin. I look skinny - I know I do, because I get a shock every time I see my full-body reflection, and I've been called skinny by others. But my BMI and the Hip/Waist ratio markers all suggest I'm not. My Hip/Waist ratio tells me I'm still quite overweight! It really doesn't take body shape into account as I've never had an hourglass figure - I joke that I'm shaped like a plank with tits. Straight up and down. So don't take the BMI to heart, and I think it would be a good idea to tell this doctor your history. Some doctors don't think beyond their charts, unfortunately.
