    February 2023 surgery dates!

Sleeve tomorrow! Nervous mostly! Love my doc! The doubts and worries are weighing heavily today! I know my husband is worried too, and that makes it hard. He’s not discouraging me but concerned.

I had "buyer's remorse" the first couple of weeks. It's common - and people usually get over that pretty quickly. a lot of women notice crazy hormones the first few weeks or months of surgery (weird menstrual cycles and emotions all over the place). It's because estrogen is stored in fat cells, and it's released during rapid weight loss. It'll stabilize once your weight loss slows down.

Hi, I am having Gastric Sleeve surgery in 7 days. I am 7 days into my Pre-Op diet. I am still having bowel movements that are producing solid.. It's lessening but I'm curious: 1. Is this normal? 2. Where is it coming from? My consumption is 5 Shakes per day + 64 oz Hydration Fluids including 32 oz Water, 12 oz Gatorade Zero . 8 oz Jello, 4 oz decaf coffee, 4 oz broth. I am also taking Metamicil 3x/day. Thanks you and God Bless.

    Sleeve to Bypass

Hi all newbie here. I had the sleeve surgery back in 2015. I did super well until 2020 when I was placed on a depression/anxiety monthly injection that caused some serious side effects. Unknown to the doctors, therapists and myself one of the non-listed side effects were to lose weight. At this point I was already at goal of 160# but the injection made me loose down to 121# within 2 months. I had become super weak, with almost no mobility. It was so bad that I could no longer take care of my personal needs without assistance. I could no longer walk but shuffle no more than about 6 feet before giving out and having to rest. My family doctor told me I absolutely had to gain weight of a G tube might be in order. My phyc doctor change my meds and unfortunately, I went from 121# to now 225# within about 6 months. Here I sit literally only 42# away from my WLS starting weight Now every time I try to do a reset or just simply get strict with eating and watching all my intake, I do good for about 3 days then I goof up again. For all those years I was able to keep my diabetes at bay, but it showed it weary head last year and has been acting up ever since. My mom died in 2004 from complications of diabetes so I have to get back on track. My dad passed away in August this past year (I am a daddy's girl 100%) and he begged me to have the revision and get my life back on track so this is what I shall do. Any tips or info you wished you would have known prior to the revision from sleeve to bypass? I greatly appreciate any info and prayers. (NOTE: I am in the midst of getting my medical records to locate the name of the injection I was on as I do not recall the name of it)

    Carbonated Beer

I don't have issues with carbonation and it is not forbidden on my plan either. We are just told to limit it and of course, only if your belly is ok with it. I don't drink beer, but I do have alcohol sometimes and diet soda sometimes. Ok with both. Although, try the alcohol safely at home as it hits everyone so different. Most people get drunk super easy but sober up even quicker. For me, I get drunk quick but I don't sober up. I stay drunk just as I would before surgery. But I get drunk VERY drunk with much less alcohol. Be safe, follow your plan. Best of luck!

    4 days postop! ~ ♡

Almost 11 weeks. The nurse did tell us if we had any issues to use a stool softener and make sure we are hitting our fluids. Some from my support group do a suppository when things do not move for a while.

    Pre-Workout Food Recommendations

At this stage my nutrition team has advised no grains aside from our Proteins we’ve been allotted one fruit serving and two non-root vegetables. We’ll see if they allow my to add a complex carb first when they reply, if sp I’ll keep this in mind. Thank you!!

    Soft protein

I made tuna salad with yogurt instead of mayo - added protein to it. Also did this with hard boiled eggs for egg salad. A bit of brown mustard in with the egg salad. The tuna I just used the yogurt and tuna and smashed the heck out of it. Tiny bites and tiny amounts. You could do that with chopped/diced chicken too.

    I’m back / Cold Feet

I think you have to be 100% ready for change. If you needed to pause and think about it, that’s great. Surgery is scary and change is scary. I had major doubts the morning of surgery but I told myself that was just anxiety and went through with it. Bypass was the BEST thing I’ve ever done for myself. You have the rest of your life to look forward to.
