Constipation is a common issue after bariatric surgery, due to changes in the digestive system and the decreased food intake. It's important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and other fluids, as well as eating high-fiber foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. There are several over-the-counter medications that may be used to help with constipation, such as stool softeners (such as Colace, as you mentioned), laxatives (such as Miralax or generic versions), and fiber supplements (such as Metamucil or Benefiber). It's always best to check with your surgeon or primary care physician before taking any new medication after bariatric surgery, since some medications may interact with the surgery or have other risks for bariatric patients. It's also important to try to establish a regular bowel movement routine. This can include regular physical activity, eating at regular times, and avoiding dehydration.

I think it is completely normal. I have my surgery 2/7 and I am feeling the same way. I know it is for the best however. Hang in there! We will get through this!

Thanks for all the kind words. I think my biggest fear centers around my extended healing time and that putting an unknown into the equation. I have M.S. as well and am actually currently recovering from a really bad broken ankle to boot. I should be walking again by now but my healing has always taken about 3x as long as most... even bruises or like a scrape. I think it has to do with my M.S.(multiple sclerosis). It just worries me about recovering and such as it really is a big question mark in my mind. Trying to breathe through it but this forum is definitely helpful for sure. Is This Trouble ?

My latest results were much better BUT it has raised my awareness about Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease which is much more serious than I believed .I looked on the Britishlivertrust.org.uk at the stories and facts of NAFLD and realised it can take the same pattern as alcoholic fatty liver disease .I am so grateful my results were much improved , it is pretty scary reading .

I've thought of having arm lift, breast lift, and thigh lift. I meant to ask this question here. I am worried about how soon would it be that I can feed my pets, nothing heavy or anything but there is no one to take care of them if I am down. If it is a quick recovery like the rny, it would be no problem. If anyone can give me insight it would be extremely helpful. Honestly, that's my only concern is my cats lol

Hey there! I started with a lower BMI and had lots of success! I am 5’ 5”, started at 209. Within 6mo I was WNL and a year later I was about 145lbs & am happily staying there. I have actually heard that lower BMI (30-35) has more long term success with the sleeve, in part because folks at that level tend to not have as many food addiction or unhealthy habits. There are some studies going on to demonstrate the success of lower BMI folks, with the hope that eventually insurance will cover lower BMIs more often. (I just eeked in at BMI of 35 at my highest- may have purposefully gained a few to do it.) IMHO the trick is to track what you eat and have a balanced diet (not another low carb, highly processed fad nonsense diet that’s just going to fail long term.) So, yes! Lower BMI patients absolutely have a ton of success. And potentially have greater long term success. So go for it! You will do great.

My surgery was in July, but My favorite NSV so far is: Went to universal and fit on every ride easily. Last time I went I couldn’t do two of the rides!
