I also hate the word "obese". High cringe factor for whatever reason.

Anyone else able to chug water?

I can chug water. Never had a problem meeting my goal. Fluids don't bother me at all and I am able to drink like I never had surgery. You aren't supposed to drink while you eat because it pushes the food through too fast and your body doesn't have enough time to absorb the nutrients.

    December surgery

Lol the calorie deficit is going to my head, it seems! Sorry for the confusion [emoji16] Long story short, had my first dumping episode and it suuuuuuucked. Thanks to soy milk! I'm so hesitant with fluids other than water since, but decided to try a cup a soup tonight for a savoury flavour. Pray for me that it goes well [emoji1787] How is everyone else doing? I'm definitely having the 'head hunger' creep in. I'm lucky to live alone So I Don't have to prep food for anyone else. I can't imagine how tough it is for folks making meals for others! Every time I pass/smell food I kind of have a little pang, but I can get over it. It's not forever, just for now. I was visiting a friend today, and when they brought out bread sticks and cream cheese to snack on - I instinctively thought to grab one. I didn't, of course, but it was crazy how quick that thought came and over rode my logic! This stuff runs deep in the subconscious, I guess [emoji849] Sent from my Pixel 4a (5G) using BariatricPal mobile app

    Nutrifol??

My dermatologist recommended Nutrafol. I'm a little skeptical because his office sells it, but he didn't push me to buy it from them (he gave me a pamphlet and said it's available on Amazon if I'd rather buy it online). I decided not to try it at this point because it's really expensive and I'm not sure it's worth it. My dermatologist also recommended Rogaine (he said to use the men's formula because it's stronger than the women's formula) but said that if you stop using it, you'll lose any regrowth that you got from using it. It is less expensive than Nutrafol, too. I did try Vegamour for several months and as far as I can tell, it didn't make any difference. I've been taking biotin faithfully every day since surgery, and I doubt it helps, but I figure it doesn't hurt, and it's cheap, so I keep taking it. But honestly, I think the only improvement has just been from waiting for it to grow back. I had a different surgery 15 months after my gastric bypass and experienced another round of telogen effluvium, but it's been improving for the last few months even thought I gave up on growth products.

    Zoloft

First of all, I'm so proud of you for reaching out to get treatment. That is truly the hardest part! As a fellow anxiety sufferer, I can tell that it DOES get better. As someone who also had WLS I will tell you, from my experience, any amount of weight my meds may have contributed to is NOTHING compared to feeling healthy and strong and not carrying the burden of chronic anxiety. I was on treatment prior to WLS so its hard to say what impact, if any, it had. But even if I were starting today, knowing it might impact me weight, I would absolutely do it in a heartbeat. YOU ARE WORTHY OF GOOD MENTAL HEALTH. That being said, Zoloft may contribute to a ~1% weight gain over the course of the first year of treatment, which is pretty negligible. And its helpful to remember that the med itself doesn't cause the weight gain, the changes in habits it can lead to are what cause the gain. So if you stick to your good habits (hit your protein, drink your water, move your body) you will be just fine. We are rooting for you!

I froze several meals in large ice cube trays (walmart). They are 1/2 cup. First was 93% hamburger into taco meat 1/3 cup and topped with 1/8 cup guacamole. The second was Italian ground turkey with marinara topped with a little chickpea spaghetti. Third was cauliflower thins topped in pizza sauce and turkey pepperoni baked 15 minutes and then topped with mozzarella cheese and broiled to melt. I also froze turkey chili. I pop any of my meal cubes in microwave, portion correct, at a moment notice. I have a dozen cubes in each ziplock bag. I have gifted my neighbors most of my pantry, freezer so 90% of my house is good food choices.

Yea if you can find something else it would certainly be easier not being around food all the time I’m sure.

    Losing hope

Stop putting yourself under pressure. You won't magically stop losing weight after a certain time span. You stop losing weight when you're in a caloric equilibrium and you start losing again when you're in a caloric deficit (even years out).

    Losing hope

NO ! You haven't wasted anything ! You have GAINED experience, you have gained the knowledge that IF you eat certain foods, you won't lose weight. One of the biggest issues for many people, myself included isn't losing the weight... if I really set my mind to it.... it is keeping it off. I am a dozen years post surgery. Look at where I started and where I am now. About 4 years ago I decided to take some gained weight off.... again... and to stop every so often and maintain THAT weight for a while. BLEW MY OWN MIND !!! I could eat more, or eat treats and maintain my weight each time. Two years ago I got down to about 172 - 173 and decided to stay there and only panic if I got to 177. I kept a 40 pound weight loss for 2 years. AFTER losing 120 pounds 12 to 10 years ago. A while back... a few months I decided that I would just try to get back from an average of 175 to maybe that 172. Took my time, made some small changes. Gained 2 pounds during the 8 days of Chanukkah with some latkes and jelly donuts. And family dinners. Not a problem. Went back to what I was doing before our holiday and lost the two pounds ... (again) and didn't beat myself up over it. As soon as I stopped eating the holiday foods, the two pounds came off and another couple pounds after that... For me, it is all about getting into the right head space and weighing daily, watching what I eat, and balance. Friends dropped off dinner for my adult daughter and I tonight.... line caught, home made fresh FRIED fish. And french fries. (REALLY ?!) The fish was delicious. I ate 4 fries. And a piece of fish. I have fish for lunch tomorrow, and dinner..... and my daughter has fish and fries for days... I am the same weight now as I was in college... in 1977. From my heaviest weight I am almost half of myself. NEVER ever say that you cannot. Take a break from being so hard on yourself. Take a week and maintain where you are now. Then go back to where you need to be. You can do this.
