Favorite Foods? Lets make a list.

Apples. I'm obsessed with them and having a hard time accepting that Rockit apple season is a couple of months away yet. I like Envy and Bravo varieties too, but the little sweet crisp Rockit variety are the ones I buy by the huge bagful when they're available. Otherwise it's other easy-grab fruit like seedless black grapes, lychees and cherries. I also love rice crackers, including the "crispbread" ones, which I love with Nuttelex and Vegemite. We have a local Chinese bakery that does the best red bean sesame balls and red bean mochi balls, which both my partner and I LOVE. Those are treats to have with a nice soy latte or mug of tea.

I froze several meals in large ice cube trays (walmart). They are 1/2 cup. First was 93% hamburger into taco meat 1/3 cup and topped with 1/8 cup guacamole. The second was Italian ground turkey with marinara topped with a little chickpea spaghetti. Third was cauliflower thins topped in pizza sauce and turkey pepperoni baked 15 minutes and then topped with mozzarella cheese and broiled to melt. I also froze turkey chili. I pop any of my meal cubes in microwave, portion correct, at a moment notice. I have a dozen cubes in each ziplock bag. I have gifted my neighbors most of my pantry, freezer so 90% of my house is good food choices.

    January 2023

January 2023 peeps: Don't forget to take a few "Before" photos before your procedures. It helps to see small changes on days when you stall, especially if you develop body dysmorphia. Wishing you all successful procedures this month!

So Why Don't We Talk About It?

As someone who’s also been hospitalized for an ED I’m really surprised to see this kind of false equivalency of what an ED from someone who’s also experienced it.

    Losing hope

Stop putting yourself under pressure. You won't magically stop losing weight after a certain time span. You stop losing weight when you're in a caloric equilibrium and you start losing again when you're in a caloric deficit (even years out).

I realize this post is older, but just wanted to say thank you for taking time to write it. As a Christian, I have also struggled with the notion that my body is a temple but that somehow I'm forsaking what He intended for me to be. I always try to hand over my battles to God. Now I feel tremendous relief knowing that He understands our struggles, so much so that He endorsed what many would call "drastic measures" to avoid sin and despair. Wow...this WLS journey is deeper than anyone can fathom!

Pre & Post Surgery Must Haves

I packed a box of all my post surgical needs so when I got home from hospital I had all I needed & wouldn’t have to leave the house to go shopping. Just off the top of my head: Over the counter meds: non NSAID pain meds like tylenol, gas x, stool softener, Imodium. A variety of shakes, broths, soups, yoghurt drinks, etc. protein water & any other allowed ‘foods’. Post surgery, your taste buds can go a bit haywire temporarily & flavours you liked before may taste awful. So that shake you enjoyed may be disgusting: too sweet, too salty or just blah! Electrolyte drinks like Hydralyte. Some are given their post surgical med scripts before surgery. If so get those scripts filled before your surgery too. All the best.
