You guys! I just realized a NSV that I have to share!!! This is something that I've been wanting to achieve - forever (not forever, but for a little over 7 years)... The keyboard tray on my desk is at the same height as the arms of my chair. For as long as I've had this chair/desk combo (a little over 7 years), my tummy has stuck out farther than the arms of my chair. I could squish my keyboard tray in and touch the arms of my chair, but my tummy would be touching the tray. Today - I noticed that my tummy isn't touching the keyboard tray, but the tray is up against the arms of my chair!!!! There's only about 1/4-inch of space, but it's there!

You’ll get there before you know it! March will be two years post WLS for me. Just got my tummy tuck and thighplasty December 22nd. Post plastic surgery appointment tomorrow. Today I bought a short shirt to show off my belly when it’s healed. I’m probably too old to wear it, but excited I can and I’ll look good in it! Oh and even funnier… it’s a large… FROM THE KIDS department. I also bought a kids size 14 sweatsuit. So much cheaper now that I wear kids sizes rather than a 2x women’s!!!

    Gas pain! Dreading this

Hi guys! I have bypass surgery on 9th January, and overall very nervous! I had a gastric sleeve in 2016, and the gas pain post op was horrendous, I am seeiously freaking out about this happening again. Has anyone got any advice from their experience apart feom peppermint juice?

Favorite Foods? Lets make a list.

Sometimes we run out of ideas for snacks and meals. What are some of your favorite things to keep stocked up on? I can't live without a few flavors of Moon Cheese and my Milk Chocolate 1st Phorm Protein.

So Why Don't We Talk About It?

...probably the same reasons people don't talk about therapy outside of the bariatric universe. i dont think the taboo that is (unfairly) assigned to mental health management is specific to us as a group. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sorry you are going through all of this. I hope they figure it out and get it resolved soon. Wishing you the best.

I was going to say the same thing in fact I will, go back to the ER and or the surgeon who did the surgery sounds like you have an infection and that is serious

Have you had an MRI of the area? I would honestly make enough noise that your doctor has a second look. Sometimes you really need to stress to them that you are truly in considerable pain - and that your medical history will prove you're not a hypochondriac or opioid addict. I haven't had exactly what you describe, but I will say that with my own experience, gallbladders and their removal aren't simple or even cure the issue. I had my gallbladder removed in 2015, years before my WLS. I had a terrible gallstone attack that landed me in ER. Since then, I have had, on and off, gallstone-like attacks despite no longer having a gallbladder. Same sensation. Same building pressure that can bad enough that I have to lie down and just groan the pain out (I live in fear of it happening while driving). I get very sore right under my right rib where my liver is. Then it goes away again within a few minutes, sometimes less, depending on the severity. My gallbladder surgeon was also my WLS surgeon, so I've been able to tell him about it the last couple of times I've seen him. We're keeping an eye on it, and if it gets worse we'll have to talk options, however he's warned me that the "cure" can sometimes cause even worse issues, so I'm unlikely to choose a surgical fix. Apparently what I have can happen - sorry I don't recall the details (I was talking to him right before he did a gastroscopy on me so I was dopey), but from memory, some people can continue to have "attacks" because of new issues with the bile duct leading from the liver. Anyway, that's a long winded way of saying "chase this up because post-gallbladder-removal issues absolutely happen".

    Dizziness (4wks post op)

that's actually pretty common. It's usually due to blood pressure changes - and it usually goes away after awhile. I used to have that occasionally my first few months post-op. Just get up slowly. Here's an article on it: (oh - I just read you're on blood pressure medication. It could be that, too - some people have to have their dosage changed after having WLS). Here's the article on orthostatic hypotension, though - seems to be fairly common the first few months after WLS: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/orthostatic-hypotension/symptoms-causes/syc-20352548#:~:text=Orthostatic hypotension — also called postural,or lightheadedness and possibly fainting.

    August surgery buddies!

Same here. I lost three pounds last month. Three! I feel like I’m losing inches though. I think the three pounds was all of the hair I’ve been losing! Here’s to ending the stall in 2023!
