    Eating

    This isn’t an easy question to answer because we have different needs & we are different people. I was at my goal at 6 months but kept losing as I struggled to eat enough at first to slow the loss. My surgeon told me to work up to about a cup of food by maintenance & I guess that was pretty true but it did depend on what I was eating as some things were more filling - still the same now. I was barely eating 900 calories at 6 months & then about 1300 when I stabilised at about 15 months. I eat about 1400 now & generally eat about or a bit less than what would be considered a recommended serving size. Someone taller, younger, more active than me, heavier than me & with a larger frame would need to eat more & vice versa. And of course the foods you eat also okay a part. I’m a low processed make it myself person, eating lower carbs, very little sugar, lowish fat. Have you spoken to your team about the foods you struggle with? What do you mean by struggle - make you feel sick, feel your restriction, sit heavily, taste, etc.? Is it a specific food/s, food group or any food randomly? Can you relate it too how much you eat, how fast or even when you eat? (Sounds odd to ask about time but for example I have difficulty eating breakfast before 8:30/9am.)

    Stalls

    My last stall lasted 5 of the longest, most frustrating weeks ever. Now I am at a lower weight, losing it is so much more difficult. I am eating more calories, about 900 to 1200 a day and having limited exercise is making my weight loss tough going. I knew this would happen sooner or later but it's still damn annoying. We cannot tell what your weight is so we would find it difficult to help you, but many say that it's really hard to get to our ideal set point. Our bodies just don't want to give up the last bits of fat. Some on here have managed to get to 'gold medal' stage but many have had to admit defeat at silver. We are all winners in my eye if we can keep our lost weight off My team think I will lose slowly for another 6 or 7 months. Then I can consider plastic surgery on my old saggy bits. TBH, I have lost more than I ever dreamt I could. So, vary your diet as much as possible and keep going until you cannot do one damn day more !

    No Weight loss

    There's also such a thing as not eating enough calories. It's possible that you're burning too many calories for what you're taking in, so your body is just hanging onto everything it can get. Burning 1600 calories a day and only getting 70 grams of protein, might not be enough. If you add weights, yes, you might gain weight. But, you'll lose fat and you'll get smaller.

    Surgery today! Nov 3

    surgery at approx 12:30 pm November 3rd surgery ended approx 1:45 pm November 3rd discharged from hospital 11:00 am November 4th. I walked out of hospital from my room (by choice) and to the car- sore. exhausted, loopy a little still. incision areas are very visibly bruised today. largest (2.5 inch approx ) is only incision area I can “feel” overall better than i expected

    fDL tummy tuck done Tuesday

    They were prepared to do a full FDL but he said after they got in there he felt a partial would give me great results. I can’t imagine having arms, thighs or butt done at the same time. The first week was rough! Now I don’t have pain but uncomfortable and tightness

    Hi, I eat yogurt. Today has been better cramping is minimal and I'm not doubling over in pain. Still have loose stool, but doing better.

    Almost 9 years out...

    Hi!! Brand new to this forum! Was wondering: I had my gastric bypass in December of 2014. I have lost 120ish pounds and have NOT gained back (it's a life change--not a "miracle!' I have a few questions. 1--the past 2-3 years my hemoglobin has dropped to a 7 (January) and 8 (a month ago.) I've been recently referred to a specialist-in which I go on the 20th of this month. Has anyone had this problem? BTW--extremely addicted to Sonic ice!! haha. 2--are gastric bypass patients still supposed to wait 30 minutes after eating to drink anything? I know we had to in the beginning. Asking these questions because my dr who performed the surgery (in Texas, btw) - I didn't see him but maybe 2 times post-surgery. (LONNNGGGGG STORY!) What does anyone think? PS--I've still kept the weight off--and have even lost a couple of pounds the past year. Thx!! 2--

    Food confusion

    Exactly this. There are unfortunately no standards at all when it comes to pre and post bariatric surgery diets. I found this incredibly frustrating early on as it makes it seem like it's not science, but guess work. On reflection, I suspect it has more to do with how long a particular program has been doing bariatric surgery and the experiences of their patients over that time. Most teams probably only update their plans rarely. Some may still be clinging to recommendations that were more common a long time ago. Also, some doctors are just more conservative than others. Anyway, whatever the reason, every bariatric program is free to design their own plans. Some are very strict, and some not so much. When I asked my team about this, I was specifically told to ignore what other programs were doing. They designed their plan around the outcomes that work for them. In terms of conflicting advice between your written plan and what you were told, I agree it's best to ask. I had this happen a few times, but I always asked about it and was given a reason why they wanted me to deviate. For example, at my 2 week post-op visit, I was told I could progress faster than the written plan. This was specifically done for me because I was healing well and had no nausea.

    I CANNOT believe that I stand here in a size 10 jeans, I’m not sure I EVER even THOUGHT I would wear that size jeans! Talk about a NSV!! ( down from a 24/26 Jean)
