    Fruit

I eat fruit pretty often. If I have a sweet craving I always try to satisfy it with fruit first. It usually works.

    Fruit

I had bypass but I eat fruit. Watermelon, apples and grapes mainly but I have had a few strawberries too. It is minimal but I have had these fruits from time to time. No issues.

    Finally got a date!!!

I’m post op bypass day 5. I was in hospital one night. I slept 12 hours from surgery time. I have never been that far under for that long. I never used my iPad at all. Bring athletic slides to wear home. I used my chapstick and fresh underwear. No bra as one of the incisions is at a bad spot. I brought ear plugs but I’m Used to them. I had all kinds of things prepared and needed none of it. I came home next day and am a stomach sleeper. That was a bust but was able to gingerly put a pillow under me on third night. I have slept in bed since.

    Finally got a date!!!

To add to @SpartanMaker’s list, spare knickers or disposable underwear - diarrhoea is a real possibility & attacks can be extremely sudden. your own pjs, soap/shower gel. I found putting on my own pjs & using my own shower gel much nicer & sort of soothing than wearing the hospital gown & using their awful anti bacterial soap stuff all your prescribed medication in unopened boxes/bottles. Actually I know three others who also have had surgery (different weight & ages) & none of us needed a cane, stomach binder or couldn’t sleep in our bed from day one so I don’t know about ‘most’ needing those sorts of support equipment. Think it’s very individual. Save your money unless you actually need them. All the best.

    Finally got a date!!!

almost everything i brought to the hospital i did not use lol. tho when you get home a walking cane will help a ton especially when getting up and sitting down. A recliner is a must as most are not able to sleep i a bed for a while after surgery. It took me about a month before i could lay dow.

    Feeling Defeated

Hi all! Very new to this site and about to have gastric sleeve surgery on 10/31. I started the process back in July and it’s all felt pretty quick. I knew I wanted to go through with it after talking to the surgeon and team. They have been absolutely wonderful. I’m currently on the two week pre-op liquid diet (only broth/sugar free jello & popsicles/protein shakes/clear liquids). I think I didn’t fully prepare myself for how difficult it would be to go without solid food. I’ve struggled most of my life with being overweight and overeating and I got tired of it. But I think my attachment to food is still extremely strong. I’m working with a therapist to overcome it and change habits. However, the liquid diet is driving me crazy and making me think this wasn’t the right way to go. I’m afraid I don’t have the strength to go through with it and be successful afterwards. I haven’t cheated on the diet over the past 7 days but I constantly think about it. And I thought it would get easier but it hasn’t. Did anyone else experience this pre-op? Did your feelings change after surgery? It’s just tough to not rely on something that made me so happy before (food). Any advice is much appreciated. 🙂

    high wbc in preop labs

hematologist was 6-7 years ago but my main dr knows all about it… normal wbc is 7-10… i usually run 13-17… yesterday was 20, so double normal limit… so-far i haven’t gotten a call about it, so maybe not a problem (wishful thinking)… just don’t want anything to derail things at this point !! (side note: my a1c dropped from 6.2 to 6.1! was hoping for more but i will take any reduction)

    6 month follow up

Do you have a plan in place to get your vitamins checked each year. Your family dr should be able to order the labs but you may want to ask for the order from her and make a copy So you know the family Dr covers everything.

    Starting my journey - Advice

The only thing I can say is not to worry about this, I have already gone through something like this and it matters a lot to keep calm, I was also a student and this source helped me a lot with this https://edubirdie.com/do-my-homework because this happened during my studies and in order not to miss anything I turned to them for help with my homework, besides this after the operation I was doing even better. Everything will be fine!
