    Need more protein!! Please help

Hello everyone :S I am a little more than 2 weeks post op and thankfully as far as healing I have been doing good. My first week was awful as I was barely getting any protein or water intake because it all felt super heavy on my stomach and I began to panic but even being two weeks out I’ve learned more about my body but it’s a working progress. This being said, even though I am getting more protein I am still lacking! Does anyone have any tips on how to get good amount of protein in? I push myself to do 30 gram shake and thankfully my stomach can take tuna but I don’t think I can do 2 shakes at this time and I don’t eat enough meals to get the rest of the protein in. I tired liquacel and it was horrendous! The taste just lingering of fish oil in my mouth has me throwing the bottle out and it was so pricey ugh I really need help

My last nutritionist appointment was 23 days ago. I recieved a surgery date of October 6th, and I was under the assumption my paperwork would be submitted that week. I called the surgeons office today for an update and she said they will submit closer to the surgery date, "in about two weeks". Is this a normal time frame? I get more approval anxiety by the day! My pre-op EKG and labs appointment is scheduled for September 12th but they're not even submitting my claim until around that time? My patience is running low 😮‍💨🥴

That’s really cool that you get scheduled before the insurance approves it (sorta) my dr won’t schedule the surgery until it’s approved. Best of luck to you! 🙌🏻

    Mini Goals :)

Well done! My first mini goal was to get under 100 kilos (220 pounds) and I thought I might get there this week. Unfortunately, I gained some weight yesterday, and today I'm still somewhat heavier than I was two days ago, so I don't think it's going to happen this week. It's great to be able to see progress. I too, have a long way to go, and sometimes I'm afraid I will never get there.

    Shingles

Guys- Valtrex is a RX medicine in the US used to treat shingles along with chickenpox and herpes outbreaks. And shingles can happen more than once, along with chickenpox. That being said, I personally would reschedule surgery. It’s a major surgery and your body is already working hard to fight an infection. The last thing you want is to stress your body more with surgical inflammation and pain. And shingles is contagious until all pustules have scabbed over so you’d be putting others as risk during your travel and surgery.

It gets easier the longer you go without them, but once you re-introduce them you have to learn moderation even when you crave them. That has been a learning experience. I'm a stress baker and so when I bake I will call my sister up and give her more than half of what I bake so that I don't eat them all because I don't trust myself not to. I've even had my mom take some of my baked goods to work to share with her co-worker to get them out of the house. I have worked on the stress baking lately and I've cut it down to once a week when before I was baking 3-4x a week and sometimes sending all but one serving to my sisters house or my moms work lol. I made peanut butter cookies last week (because my niece and nephew were coming over and they love my cookies) and am planning banana muffins this week (because my mom loves when I make banana bread or banana muffins and since they eat the majority I tend to make what they like).

i am pre op but have made major dietary changes this year. tbh 80% of my cravings for sugary and carbs have already disappeared with the changes i have made. once i made the choice to reduce my consumption to “sparingly” on fast food, sugary items and now carbs, (begrudgingly due to upcoming pre op diet) and went through an adjustment period, the cravings majorly reduced. now the specific cravings are few and far between. also, i worked on WHY I used those items as an emotional crutch to get me through some challenging times. that made a huge difference. another big change is when I feel a craving, i can tell if it’s emotional or physical. emotional can be soothed by working on the emotional issue causing the craving; physical can often be satisfied with a very small portion of the food desired. it has been a freeing experience that was worth the extremely hard work and tears to get to this point. (lost 40 lbs since the end of April.. 56 this year) Journaling has been my best tool. There are other tools like meditation, therapy, channeling energy into a hobby etc that can help too. Remember this process is truly changing your life!! The more you look at all of your life’s patterns and seek out the healthy path, the better off you will be.

    Question on hair loss

It usually starts around the 3rd or 4th month & last about 3 months or so. When you start, how long it will last & how much you lose is an individual thing so you may be more or less the usual which is ok of course. You’ll start to notice an increase in the amount of hair you shed like when you wash or brush your hair. Remember this is just an acceleration of your natural hair shedding cycle. The hair you are losing is hair you would be losing. It’s just happening faster for a short time. Your still have new hair growing but just at it’s usual rate. Keep meeting your protein goals & taking your vitamins. Don’t stress about it - stress makes everything worse. It will pass.

    Question on hair loss

Increased shedding starting in the 4th or 5th month. I don't remember but it was later than most.
