I was blowing through sizes so fast that I bought everything except for underwear at thrift stores (like Goodwill). Actually, I still get most of my clothes there, and I've been in maintenance for over five years!

    August Surgery Buddies!

Hi all, looks like I’m late to the party but my surgery is scheduled for Aug 24th. I started my liquid diet last Wednesday so on day six. It consists of 4 Ensure High Protein shakes for a daily total of 640 cal… hard to believe I can consume so little and still not be hungry but that’s a good thing. Still, can’t wait for surgery day to get here. I’m lucky as my wife had the surgery in 2015 and is an awesome role model and source of info and support!

Not all surgeons require the same regime. I was given the choice of soup or custard in the hospital the day after surgery. I wasn't able to manage it but the lady in the next room did

I was in pain the first 16 days after surgery. You shouldn't be eating anything at this stage, and you should try drinking warm liquids. I found that helped A LOT.

Thanks you so much! I am home recovering....not too bad so far. It's actually easier to keep up with my liquids and protein this time. I have not felt any GERD and I'm down 3 pounds lol

What does your daily food diary look like ? Can you give us a little more information. I say this because I am wondering why you are nibbling on a tomato ? Are you dry heaving because you have an empty tummy ?

    Sleeve to bypass hopefully

Hey! I have BCBS. I was fortunate when I called my insurance company to get a representative who had just recently had gastric bypass surgery so she was incredibly helpful! She said it was not uncommon to be denied initially and that my doctor could either do a peer-to-peer call with one of their doctors or my doctors office could order some other tests to document the hiatal hernia further. Once that was done they could re-file and most likely I would be approved. So I haven’t given up hope yet! 😁

I was an ancient, disabled 62 year old and in 7 months I have lost 100+ lbs and got off my BP meds, am not diabetic anymore and can walk briskly without a stick and have my independence back. Every day is a new sunny day for me, even when its raining! I only wish that I could have afforded this surgery 20 years ago.

    Someone in Florida???

You should see dr Wiljon Beltre in Orlando. I had my surgery May 12th 2021, now it’s two weeks later and I’m down 17 lbs & I’m in my 50’s. He’s great and has done thousands of bariatric surgeries over the last 20 years. He’s very confident and I was out of the hospital after only one day. His prices were the most reasonable of all. Good luck
