I have PCOS and my periods were irregular. MY cycle was 6-8 weeks. After surgery, I had my period for like two weeks in the first month. Now I'm spotting but I I have minimal PMS symptoms. I'm about 10 weeks post op.

    Anyone in MINNESOTA?

Yes!!! I am so happy I wasn't the only one that went through that. I am surprised at others who actually got through the process at Park Nicollet. I also ditched Park Nicollet and got a second opinion on the ED. It is super weird how other programs work!! Fairview-Your first appointment/meeting is with a group of people who are interested in the program and then at the end you add your name on the list if you want to make your first appointment with a nurse/dietician. Mayo-you see an endocrinologist/dietitian/therapist all in one day. Till this day I feel like the provider who denied me was trying to get more money in by referring her patients to the Emily Program.

    Cholesterol

As @Sleeve me alone! said elevated cholesterol levels is common post surgery. Mine went up too. It’s all the cholesterol being released into your body as you lose fat & the high protein diet (especially animal proteins) & lower vegetable diet add to it. My surgeon & doctor monitored it but it started to go down when my weight loss finally slowed & I was eating a more balanced diet in maintenance. It was always about 5/5.1 before surgery (not bad but not good), went up to 5.8 (danger, danger) & is 4.1 now (gold star 😉). Try swapping in some plant proteins & rolled oats into your diet & see if that helps while you are still losing.

I have a question that I tried to find an answer to and just couldn’t get a clear one. I did email my nutritionist but it’s after hours and won’t here back until tomorrow. So in the meantime I thought I’d inquire here…. I was doing a little meal prep for the next few days and wanted to portion things out to 2ish ounces. I weighed and air fried some tofu…. Tofu is packed in a lot of liquid and even after pressing it there’s still a lot. Obviously the post air fry weight was considerably less, like almost half…. Now, the nutritional value is still the same, protein, carbs, fat etc. So if I weigh it after cooking and log it, it’ll give me the nutritional values for the cooked weight BUT shouldn’t I count the nutritional value of it uncooked? Thoughts? To add: I’m most just wondering about nutritional value here. I want to maximize my protein intake here and I don’t want to cheat myself.

I am on the Depo shot since 2017, so its been yearsssssss since I had a period. Surgery did not change that for me. However, those few weeks post-op, maybe 6-8 weeks, I was extremely emotional. I was tired, crabby, sad, and overly sensitive. Thankfully, I knew to expect it and had given my family a heads up. They gave me lots of space and I took lots of naps. Since then things have leveled out and I feel like myself again.

    Food weight: before or after?

If you eat something raw, weigh and log it raw (vegetables, nuts, sushi, etc) and if you eat it cooked, weigh and log it cooked. If you are using an app, there is a wide selection of preparation styles to choose from for the same foods. When I’m in doubt, I choose the highest calorie count that closely represents the food so I don’t run the risk of undercounting calories.

Do I have to eat ?

I quite often eat yogurt for a meal! I have always loved yogurt, but since surgery I love it even more and I would say it's my favorite food now. Sometimes, it's all I want and I find it very satisfying! Sent from my Pixel 5a using BariatricPal mobile app

Do I have to eat ?

HAHA I feel the same way most of them time. I just have a routine and force it. But sometimes it is miserable because when I don't want to eat, nothing tastes good and I am like gagging it down. I just keep telling myself to be grateful to not be hungry because some people wake up hungry and struggle like crazy. My dietician says to take this time to establish the good eating habits so when my hunger comes back, I will be prepared and already have my body trained.

Good morning! I had my 2 week post-op appointment on Tuesday. My incisions are healed and I had lost about 15 lbs since my pre-op appointment. During the first week and a half my weigh loss seemed fairly consistant on a daily basis. Then all of a sudden nothing. I haven't lost anything in 5 days! Has anyone else had a similar experience? I was getting so excited seeing the numbers drop on a daily basis that this feels like an emotional letdown. I just switched to pureed foods and have been logging what I eat in my attempt to make the protein numbers (60-80g). I am eating on average 500-600 calories a day.
