Even at 800-1000 calories your body will still be in a pretty significant calorie deficit and you will lose. The higher the calories the slower of course. Some programs have calories Even higher than that a little further out. My team didn’t really give a calorie goal. Best to just go by your teams plan for you though. It’s hard but trust the process. It works.

It's a good problem to have, IMO!

It’s not really meal prepping in my mind since I can only eat the meat, but I made a little less than a pound of lean ground beef with a taco seasoning packet and I’ve been eating that for the week with fat free shredded cheese. If you are farther out you could do a wrap, taco, veggies, sour cream, etc. Also you might like the muffin tin recipes on Pinterest. You can search bariatric muffin tin recipes and a lot will come up. A lot are made with wonton wrappers and the “guts” can be Italian, Mexican, breakfast, etc. I like taco cups, meatloaf cups, and lasagna cups best

    Hello, any veterens around?

I will be at 8 years in November. I never made it to goal but that was ok. Had over a 100lb loss. It started to creep slowly back on- about 10 pounds a year or so. I started to watch more last year and am back to the lowest post-surgical weight so I am very happy with that. I may try for another 25 pounds or so. I haven't decided yet :).

no, you won't - not with that large calorie deficit. As others have said, you'll hit stalls along the way and your weight may fluctuate occasionally by a pound or two, but if you stick to your clinic's plan, your trend will be down. I didn't start regaining until I hit my lowest weight (in the 130s), but it's VERY common to gain 10-20 lbs after hitting your lowest weight (the rebound gain is usually in year 2 or 3). But while you're in the losing phase, as long as you're sticking to your plan, no. You'll continue to lose.

    Emotional hurdles / Marriage issues

I think the fact that like 50% of marriages end in divorce anyways sorta skews our perceptions of surgery as the root of it. Yes you did have surgery but you had like a fifty fifty shot of feeling this way without the surgery. If I remember correctly the rate of divorce increases from 50 to 70% post surgery. I bet a lot of that 20% is probably what we’re already less than ideal marriages but people didn’t have the confidence to leave pre surgery. I believe a good marriage will only get better as one person becomes a healthier and happier version of themselves. Regardless, the thought of ending it with someone you once cared so deeply about is never easy and not a decision to be taken lightly. Obviously only you know if it could help at this point but counseling saved my marriage years ago and now it’s better than I could have imagined. We just needed to learn how to communicate with one another. It sounds so simple but it made such a difference. That being said I went to counseling with my first husband too and the counselor basically told us to just get divorced. Lol.

Agreed. I started my road to morbid obesity later in life (in my early 30’s). So when i was bigger, i still thought i was smaller and would bang my shoulders on walls not thinking I actually needed to give my myself a wider berth to round corners, lol. Or i’d pick our clothes thinking they would fit and be suprised/disappointed when they were way too tight. Then, later, I suppose i was big long enough (im 50 now) to ingraine in my head that there was no effing way i would fit into a size 2 when i lost the weight after wls. Im 3.5+ years post now (and over 3 years at my current weight/size), and the weird surprises about fitting into things are long gone. To the OP, As with all things, its just a matter of time before you get used to stuff and it becomes your new normal. But its a fun kind or surprise so go ahead and bask in it! Good Luck! ❤️

I have lost 205 pounds since my surgery. I'm 2 years post op on July 23rd. I am still hoping to lose 15 or 20 more and I do have a lot of loose skin, especially on my stomach and legs. I don't have a ton on my arms because they've never been that big. I do have loose skin just about everywhere but it's the worst from the waist down, especially my lower stomach. I paid for my wls so I really don't have it in the budget to have loose skin removal unless I can get insurance to cover a panniculectomy, so for now I have to live with it and I am OK with that. I really thought it would bother me a lot. The biggest issue I have is that my legs are thinner than they ever been, especially in proportion to my body, and shorts and pants are often too big in the legs when they fit in the waist and that drives me nuts. I'd take all this loose skin in heartbeat over weighing almost 400 pounds again though! I'm gonna include a pic of me in clothes and me in a two piece swimsuit. I have never worn a two piece, but the way I see it I lost all that weight and I REFUSE to be ashamed of my body ever again, no matter how it looks. It may be that I'm old now, but I just don't care what anyone thinks anymore. I'm including the swimsuit pic so you can actually see some of my loose skin, and also you can see in clothes that it's really not visible, even though I don't care too much about hiding it anyway. I know not everyone feels this way, but I struggled with self esteem issues most of my life, and in the last 10 years ago I worked on that a lot and refuse to hate my body anymore. Why the same advice over and over?

Well I think that when people reach out for help from regain, they're looking for advice from others that experienced regain and what worked for them. Obviously not every approach works for every person but MANY here have found great success conquering their regain. For me, when I had regain and saw my bariatric team, they told me all the things that I knew they would say- do a post opt diet, go back to protein shakes, portion control, etc. A health issue required me to achieve nutritional ketosis and that's actually what helped me lose all of my regain and more. I conquered the health issue and lost my regain and have maintained over 5 yrs.
