I'm just amused at how my own perception of the space I take up hasn't caught up with how much slimmer I am. I still inwardly flinch at the sight of close-packed tables and chairs at a cafe or restaurant before I realise I can slip through no problem now! I still get out of people's way when there's plenty of room and I no longer need to - it's still a reflex. My brain is so used to being spatially aware for a morbidly obese body that it's taking a surprising amount of time for it to catch up to a much smaller me. I'm constantly amazed I can slip between cafe chairs and tables now without a) other folks doing the shuffle so I can fit past, or b) risking my arse moving inches from someone's face as I knock tables on the way through with a chorus of "sorry!"s. What are some things that have snuck up on you that your mind hasn't caught up with yet?

Yesss, I am still plenty chubby. But I fit comfortably in a standard stall and still find myself going to the disabled ones! I just did it last night at the movies.

Automatically heading for the disabled stall in restrooms, before remembering that I fit in a regular stall now.

    I can’t drink enough liquids

Took me about 5 days after to finally be able to get at least 30oz on. I'm a week out today and feeling a lot better Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Just do your best. That's all anyone can do. I didn't get near my fluid goals for three weeks. My doc told me what I told you... do your best. What I did or didn't do, what other over or under achievers did or didn't do, is about as important as your pet's view on the subject. I may sound testy on this, but when I have just had surgery and am in reasonable pain, I'm less inclined to put up with this sort of support. Good luck, Tek

    Any July buddies?

Hi Joanie! Welcome! I'm sure you're like the rest of us, excited but cautious!

Be patient, take your vitamins and eat your protein. The vitamins and protein won't stop the hair loss, but it is good for when it comes back. Which it will. I lost so much hair but it is now growing out.

    Advice and encouragement

Many people think they are a "slow loser" but in fact they just have unrealistic expectations from shows like My 600 Lb Life, which features people who lose "fast" because they are much bigger than your average WLS patient. You may still be a slow loser; I can't tell how much of your 33 lb weight loss was before surgery, but I lost about 9 lbs on average per month for the first 6 months after surgery, and my surgery center said I was doing great! Try to focus on things you can control, like eating and drinking and exercising the way your surgery center recommended, and don't worry about the scale. You might also focus on how your clothes fit or other "non-scale victories". You might also consider reaching out to your surgery center to make sure you're on track, and consider seeing a bariatric therapist. Good luck!

    Any July buddies?

Hi everyone... Newbie here. Just joined this evening. Please be nice. My surgery is set for July 6th. I stated the journey last year in August 2021. I took my time with the process and making sure my mind was ready. Been on LSD for 2 1/2 weeks... still got a week to go. I've lost around 16 pounds on the LSD. First week was the hardest. I can eat 1 meal a day - protein and 2 non-starchy vegetables. I can have 2 snacks - 1 protein and 1 non-starchy vegetable. I finally figured out heading into week 2 of LSD that I can eat 3 oz of protein as a snack instead of a cheese stick or 1 egg. So I'm getting 2 good servings of protein per day with 3 non-starchy vegetables. Hoping to learn a lot from everyone.

I'm meant to be on 20th July for a Roux NY and a hiatal hernia repair. Fingers crossed! as it's been postponed three times already lol Best of luck to everyone waiting for their surgeries 🙏👍
