    RNY to Sleeve or revision of RNY

    yes - you can reverse an RNY. However, they usually only do it for serious medical issues that can't be resolved any other way. I'm not sure why you'd want to go from RNY to sleeve, though, since RNY is a stronger surgery. Unless you don't really want to lose more weight (you said you've put on 60 lbs) and are more concerned about getting stomach acid back (not sure why you'd want this - plus GERD is a potential risk of sleeve). I've heard of people having RNY revised to DS, when they reverse the RNY, create a sleeve, and then do the intestinal bypass part of the DS - but very few surgeons are qualified to do this. I would probably consider some of those surgeons, though, since they'd have the most experience (even if you just want the sleeve part).

    Same here. I know it's only temporary so I'm not worried about it. I am concentrating on getting all my fluid and proteins in now. Hang in there!

    Congrats and hope your recovery goes well. I'm still preop, scheduled for July 7 so I can't provide any insight yet. But I was debating on whether or not to weigh that first week post op. Water retention from all the fluids is for real, but you're right - only temporary!

    Pain

    I had that for about 2 weeks. My stomach seemed to be extra sensitive to anything I drank. I had hoped after the 1st week it would feel better, but nope. It was literally day 15 or so before I stopped having pain every time I drank anything.

    My surgeon didn’t want one initially, but after I mentioned I had a murmur as a baby he decided to do one in the hospital the morning of the surgery. Guess maybe I should have mentioned that sooner. We had time to kill anyways cause I couldn’t pee so they had to rush a blood pregnancy test. They really should give you a cup to bring home.

    Thing I miss most

    I miss that when walking in crowds everyone used to just organically get out of my way. Now I have to trudge through like everyone else. There are times I miss being able to eat some particularly wonderful food in ridiculous volumes. Now I enjoy what I can and move on satisfied. There's a lot more I definitely don't miss. And even more I don't remember. Good luck, Tek

    Do you even have to do one (many do not) and you are assuming by other posts that you do? Many programs that do them tend to wait until the last minute to tell their patients (for fear of scaring them off, understandably.) Some programs specifically don't want their patients doing any of those fasting diets, preferring that they concentrate on learning how to eat sensibly. If you do need to do one, then yes, playing with different protein shakes to find one that you like, or at least tolerate, is a good idea, but it's not worth going overboard on it. If liver shrinking/condition is their goal (it usually is) then simple low carb will do as well as anything - lean meats and green veg; the liquid aspect is pretty much irrelevant to that goal (and I have never understood why some insist on that, other than they don't have to do it themselves!)

    Blah...my first stall...

    We call it the 3 week stall but it can occur earlier or later. Think of it as your body needing to take a breath. It’s been going through a lot. It’s like your body shutting the door & pulling the covers over its head just like you might like to do when stressed or anxious. And yes, just stick to your plan, let your body do what it needs to do & you’ll start to lose again. Just remember it may take 1-3 weeks.
