    June 21st Peeps

My VSG was yesterday morning. Went perfectly well. I was pretty groggy yesterday but walked around the hallways a few times and hit my water goal. Gas pain has been reasonable. My ox-sat is low so I am on oxygen right now. Will go home later!

I don't have my surgery till July 27th. However, I see where you might have thought that lol. I meant that "today was the day" for you 😂. Sorry for the confusion, but thank you for asking!

My nutritionist did go over a vitamin regimen with me. They recommended the Bariatric Advantage Ultra Solo w/ Iron. They also recommended that I take a calcium citrate supplement either 1x or 2x daily. She said that it depends on if I supplement with a protein shake, whether or not I need to take 1 or 2 of those.

Sleevediva, you are doing wonderful! Congrats. My surgeon and dietician recommend just having carbs twice a week, When I say carbs I mostly mean bread, potatoes, pasta. I can eat fruit in small quantities and can even have a yam here and there. The twice a week gives me an out when I go to a restaurant, I can have what everyone else is eating and not feel left out. Its keeping track of the twice a week that gets tricky. Need to write it down on my calendar so I don't play games like "my twice a week starts today," and I say that everyday. ugh.

    Low BMI pre op question

Yes you are nuts!! You asked I gave you an honest answer. Why on earth would you try to keep your bmi above 30 just so you can have an unnecessary surgery with your low bmi. Bloody hell woman surgery is not easy or a quick fix, it's hard and some days just plain horrible. Go see a shrink about your weight/ eating issues. I doubt any surgeon would do you with such a low BMI anyway and if they do I would expect they are very dodgy

    Falling off

It's brilliant that you have caught this lapse before it gets too serious. You've had an amazing loss over 8 months and you need to forgive yourself for straying from the path - you are human, junk food is EVERYWHERE (especially during the holidays) but can get right back on the path this minute and use that tool you went to so much trouble to get. I would agree, back to basics might be best - protein first, loads of veggies, carbs last. Cut out the obvious foods that are not full of nutrients but ARE full of calories and not feeding your body what it really needs. Track everything that goes into your mouth, be super honest with that so you can see it in black and white every day. Love yourself and forgive yourself - you are so worth getting back on track for.

I only told my parents and hubby. Afterwards when I was losing noticeable weight, my sister told me I took the easy way out. She was always skinny and I think she actually got jealous. As far as everyone else, I told them I was eating less and getting more exercise. It's the truth. I feel that nobody needs to know my business. If I feel comfortable telling someone than so be it. If I don't that is ok too.
