So I just got the call today that my surgery was going to have to be postponed a week due to the surgeons availability/schedule. Instead of July 6th, it will be July 14th. I didn't realize I was so attached to the original date. I'm sitting here silently crying because it got moved a week. When I was speaking to the scheduler on the phone, I literally felt my stomach drop when she said it. Instant depression. Can one grieve a literal DATE for something like a surgery??? I'm all kinda in my emotions and it feels really weird because of the reason why. For anyone who might have experienced a postponement - is this normal?

    Buyer remorse and emotional

Has anyone dealt with buyer's remorse within the first few weeks? How did you cope? I am very new to this, I just was sleeved June 7 considering it's only ten days ago, I can't help but constantly ask myself if I did the right thing. I have also been very emotional and it's quite annoying. Please share your advice and/or suggestions. Please & thank you in advance

    Buyer remorse and emotional

Oh yes. I felt that way many times in the beginning. The first several weeks are the hardest because you're still recovering from surgery, you have a lot of restrictions on what you can eat, you have to drink nasty protein shakes, and you haven't lost enough weight to feel the benefits of the surgery. Once you get to the regular foods stage and get the benefits of weight loss, things will get a lot easier. I'm almost two years out now, and that miserable newly post-op stage feels like a lifetime ago -- just a tiny blip on my journey to losing 200 pounds. Hang in there!

    Surgery Postponed - Emotional Wreck?

a week is nothing, really. Lots of people on here had theirs postponed for months because of COVID. That week should go by quickly...

    Weird feeling..

Hello, Your body is adjusting and probably freaking out. Might be dehydrated if you aren't getting in fluids. I had 1 oz cups and I drank one every few minutes and kept a tally. I made sure each day I beat yesterday by at least 1 oz. it really helped push me until I started hitting my goal. Once I was able to drink bigger sips, I graduated to drinking from a cup so I could use ice. I prefer my water ice cold. Still keeping track (I track everything, everyday) Try some Gatorade with protein, or any of the clear protein drinks. They count as fluids and proteins and the protein promotes healing as well as nutrition. I was very lucky, I had a super easy recovery and had no desire to eat so I never went thru the "missing food" stage. I did get a little creative and drained different soups so I could have different flavors. Plain broth was too bland for me. Other people ate the rest of the soup so I wasn't wasting a bunch of food too. I hope you feel better soon, if not call your surgeon.

    Weird feeling..

It is tough in the first few weeks , we all go through it. Its major surgery and we under estimate that. Lots of us have had buyers remorse in the first month but it does get better, Once you begin to getting your water and protein quota in your body things start to get on the right track and you feel better. Take things as easy as you can, be kind to yourself, have naps if you need them. If you are still having spaced out days or dont feel right ask to see your team P.S. if you are dehydrated { is your urine really dark coloured ?} you might need to go to the ER to get it put right I hope you feel better soon

Avoid soda by not buying it anymore... The amount of sugar in them is insane and the carbonation in them wont be your friend after surgery. As for just water... Water is great. But i also have a Gatorade zero almost everyday as well to switch it up. I was addicted to pepsi before surgery. I drank lots. as for sweets. on bariatric pal website they have a store section where they have sweets that are ok in moderation. including chocolate. Its actually pretty good.

    3 rd after surgery

No you didn’t make a mistake, yes you did the right thing! I promise. Now you just have this to distract you from the thing that was making you miserable in the first place that made you want to get the surgery. So you can’t turn to that for comfort now. Give yourself a lot of grace and visualize yoke healing. I walked, sat when I was pushing it too much. I had a heating pad which was heavenly. Tylenol was my friend, the one with narcotics in it lol I chewed on Gas X like sweet tarts. I loved hot tea, sugar free popsicles. everyone is 10000% correct that you are going to feel amazing. Distract yourself as much as you can. I’m 3 1/2 months out and I love my restriction. It helps me focus, it’s reset my hormones. My cholesterol is almost 200 points down. sending hugs and healing your way.

Also make sure you get up and walk every few hours, tremendously helps with the pressure and bloating!

Sleep as much as possible!! Liquid Tylenol was the only pain med I could tolerate, highly recommended. It will get better! The first 2 days I was like omg what did I do?! I’m a month in now and not regretting my decision.
