    6 weeks post op depressed

Can anyone give me some encouragement that I will find happiness in life again? I feel so blah at the moment and I can’t find joy anywhere in my life. Has anyone experienced this? I am usually the positive person in the world and my personality has completely changed. Please give me some insight that this will change. I’ve only lost 17 lbs on top of it all.

    Vaping pre op

I was a long term smoker, I continuously stopped and started smoking so many times. I only managed it in the end by being in a hospital bed for 11 weeks. I never had chance to smoke. I figured that the nicotine was now out of my system. That was 12 years ago and I have never wanted to smoke again. I would never have stopped otherwise. My point is you will not get any judging from me. BUT - You need to stop now if you want this surgery. I believe some hospitals will not do the surgery if they detect it. You need to be as fit as you can for any surgery, Life is very unfair, just when you need it most your go to helpers are taken away from you. It will be a battle of wills for you. I hope you win. Good luck

    Coincidence

My thought was reflux &/or air borne allergens too. Food based allergies usually don’t cause gagging or wheezing, sneezing, etc. But reflux can cause a sore throat & a dry cough. Talk to your doctor again or at least try an over the counter esomeprazole to see if that helps with the sore throat & cough.

One more try before surgery again

Me too, I was overweight and obese my entire life just about. Some people just need the extra help 🙋🏻‍♀️. I called my surgeons office and I need to get reestablished. They are sending some paper to fill out and send back then they will set me up with my first appointment. I just want to get this started already lol

    Psychology appt anxious

I was also very nervous. I thought I’d be red-flagged as crazy. It wasn’t anything like I expected. Very low-key such as @grider described above. Afterwards I thought Is that all there is to a psych eval?

I had my surgery Dec. 22, 2021. I eat and drink anything I want and I love it. I just eat and drink small amounts. I've always been, (for the most part) a healthy eater. I don't eat a lot of junk food or sodas. I do drink coffee and wine but a lot less than I used to. I'm so happy I got this surgery. I just wish I would have done it a long time ago. Good luck to you.

    Type 2 and WLS

Question for those who struggled with type II diabetes prior to their WLS...if you don’t mind me asking, what were your sugars running prior to WLS, (and how long had you been a diagnosed T2, what were you doing to treat it before) and what are your sugars now? Are you able to come off diabetic meds post surgery? I’ve had D2 for about a year and a half and my A1C keeps climbing, as does my dose of metformin. Despite that, my sugars hang out in the 150s-180s consistently and my body is in an a acidiotic state more and more often...

    Type 2 and WLS

Hi, I had T2 diabetes for 2 years prior my surgery. My A1C wasn’t that high 8.1 compared to others, but my sugar levels were all over the place from 150 to 340 or so. I was taking metformin but it wasn’t working so I was prescribed Trulicity . After my sleeve I lost 50lb and now I don’t need any meds for diabetes and my sugar doesn’t go over 120. Is been a year since my surgery and so far I’m technically diabetes free.
