You won’t feel the restriction until you start solid foods. Liquids & purées to a point go through you too quickly. My restriction is still there & I’m almost 3 years. It kicks in if I eat too much, too fast, if what I eat is too dry or too coarse or if I drink too much at a time. But because I’m aware of those things it doesn’t happen very often now. Maybe people say they think it’s gone because they are consciously or subconsciously eating in a way that avoids it occurring. The goal really is not to feel the restriction especially if it’s tied to you eating too much or too quickly. Better to stop eating when you’ve had enough. Not until you are full and not until you feel the restriction. If it kicks in because what you’ve eaten is too dry or coarse or similar think of that as a warning & a protection. And you really don’t want to feel it. It’s very uncomfortable. The tightness can be quite painful because it feels like something is stuck. I often find myself thumping my chest trying to dislodge the blockage.

How long are you missing work?

I know that it's going to suck. I'm more worried about dropping off my 3 y/o to daycare and having to climb that flight of stairs. I'm considering asking the director if I can't bring her in another entrance that is ground level that they don't typically utilize for pick-up/drop-off for the first week back. 19 year old me went through a laparoscopic gallbladder removal and was grocery shopping the same night and returned to a more physically demanding job than I have now within two-three days. When I had my first baby, I returned to work in a couple of weeks, so I think I'm either stupid or hard-headed.

Yeah the right sauce can definitely help. I'm so jealous of people that can eat salads. Never have I wanted a salad more than anything else in my life. Theyre just so convenient and healthy. I will try some low carb berries as snacks I think here and there. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

Use an app like My Fitness Pal to track all your water and food intake. I find it a little easier to get water down when you do not think about it like "I need to get 64 ounces of water down". Think if on a micro level. You are up for approximately 16 hours per day. If you avoid liquid for a half hour before and after meals, that leaves 13 hours to get down 64 ouces. that is about 5 ounces of water in a one hour period. That is less than 1 ounce every 10 minutes. You will be able to do this easily and after a while you will be able to drink 8 ounces in a very short amount of time.

you can get a water bottle at walmart or any store that has measurements on it. That is how i keep track or simply drink from the standard 16oz water bottles you buy at the store. Also it took me about 4-5 days to finally go number 2. I have seen some say it take a week. hopefully your doctor provided a script for stool softeners because the 1st one is a doozy. But i simply just take sips of water through out the day. I also bought on amazon like 100 of those little 1 ounce cups. and i drink my protein with that. Makes it easier. I poor 1 little cup at a time. and when i feel like taking another i pour another little cup.

I was a not hungry or interested in eating person too. I’m glad it lasted for quite some time. But I knew I had to eat & did find eating to a routine helped me meet my goals. Don’t worry too much if you can’t meet your caloric goals yet. Focus on getting all your protein in first, then vegetables & then carbs & starch last if you can. Make sure you let your dietician know you’re struggling with the quantity of food at the moment. You can only eat what you can physically eat. The change to your taste buds & maybe sense of smell is temporary so things that taste disgusting now will be okay again in a few weeks. Also your tummy can be a bit sensitive & their may be foods that just don’t sit comfortably or heavily. Usually this passes too but there may be things that you will always have to avoid. I still can’t eat bread, rice, pasta (even vegetable low carb ones) & potatoes. Try some plant based proteins until you want to try meat again.

I told my employer I was going to file the paperwork, and they said "hang on, how about you get a letter from your doctor saying how long you need to be out and we can go from there". I found out I could be out as long as 6 weeks on FMLA and my doctor gave a letter saying I could go back to work on the 18th lol So they liked 2 weeks better than 6. I'm ok with 2 weeks. That's what I wanted anyway.

I'm sure I had stalls, but since I only weighed at monthly follow-ups I never actually saw any. Good luck, Tek

    Did I screw up lol

Same with mine. I had a packet with a timeline of when and what foods/stages I could eat. Each surgeon has his/her own recommendations/rules. I’d check with your surgeon though on what is ok…ultimately it’s what your surgeons rules are for you.
