    Leg soreness?

I have had a sore spot on my outer thighs ever since I got home from surgery. It feels like a giant bruise that you cannot see. I asked my surgeon about it and he explained that it is NEUROPRAXIA. My legs were tightly strapped to the operating table so they could tilt the table 45 degrees during the surgery. It is temporary and will fade away with time and exercise. Neuropraxia is the mildest form of traumatic peripheral nerve injury. It is characterized by focal segmental demyelination at the site of injury without disruption of axon continuity and its surrounding connective tissues. This condition results in blockage of nerve conduction and transient weakness or paresthesia.

Wow!!! This post really went off the rails! Lol I started shaking my head at the inflammatory responses & stopped reading about 80% of the way through. Some people really like to argue. [emoji38] Sent from my Pixel 4a using BariatricPal mobile app

    Numbness and tingling

What did the ER say? You should call your surgeon again. And again, and again. As many times as you need until you get to the bottom of this.

My first appt was in Jan. 2022 and today (04/27) I was scheduled for surgery in May 16th 2022. In my case 4 months in total. That 3 months was for WLP insurance requirements

So day 1 is in the books and I'm now on to day 2. Something I learned is that I have to make sure I'm getting enough calories. I only had just under 600 calories for the day yesterday and I was beyond tired, had headaches, and felt shaky. Today I'm making sure I have between 1000 - 1200 calories, and hopefully I'll feel better.

    Thinking of backing out

Short term post op some people experience mood swings and depression and/ or anxiety due to the hormones being out of whack from major surgery and the accelerated weight loss. But long term I think if people have issues it’s more because of meds not working as well. My dr suggested sleeve over bypass because of the medicine absorption issue that is possible with bypass but far less common with sleeve. I just kept reminding myself that LESS absorption did not mean NO absorption so maybe I would have to take a higher milligram of certain meds to get the right amount to absorb but they should still work. Or maybe I would have to try another medication but there are so many out there that something should work. There are some meds such as extended release meds that tend to cause The most issues for people. Some people are fine with them but others have to take the immediate release version twice a day. So my takeaway was Basically as long as you work closely with your doctor they should be able to make adjustments to your medication to find something that can work for you. I had one medication that you have to eat 350 calories at the time you take it so I had to switch to another Medication but other than that I have not had any issues with medications post sleeve. I have bipolar disorder and anxiety disorder and I totally get what you are saying. I was a little bit nervous the whole time but I just kept reminding myself that I went with the surgery the dr suggested and I am very compliant with my meds and responsible to go to the doctor and ask for help if I need it and there are so many meds out there that IF I had issues they would only be temporary.

My program has never restricted carbs post surgery, in fact they encourage a balanced diet and higher calories compared to some of the programs out there. I eat carbs on a regular basis, but that is coupled with watching overall calories and prioritizing protein. While I eat carbs, it is also nowhere near what I used to eat. I don't eat a lot of bread. The exception is a light English muffin as part of my breakfast sandwich - for some reason those English muffins don't bloat me the same way as other bread. Rice might be a few spoonfuls, the same with pasta. My tummy really cannot handle carbs in large amounts so pasta is no longer the go to food it used to be.

My experience....is that Infidelity, by itself, is almost never the integral issue. Infidelity is a symptom of a bigger underlying problem in a marriage that isn't working. People in happy marriages don't cheat. Not to say there aren't marriages and couples who survive a bout of cheating...but it's a huge red flag that more is wrong than meets the eye. Without addressing the underlying issues, the marriage becomes doomed. Remember that 85% of people who get bariatric surgery get divorced. If you're "happily married" and cheating...you're either a massive narcissist, or are in serious denial.
