Bloating Pre-Op & What to do?

that's what I was going to say - it's usually due to water retention. Have you been eating more sodium than usual lately? If so, cutting sodium intake and increasing your water consumption should do the trick.

Bloating Pre-Op & What to do?

Always contact your team if you are worried. Swollen fingers sound like water retention but thats usually in the legs first.

You are not failing it sounds like you're trying to do to much to soon in that you're thinking you are eating to fast perhaps you are , my wife had gastric bypass years ago and she told me when she catches herself eating to fast she puts the fork down so that literally stops her from eating all together and it makes her aware what she's doing , she also told me in between bites even if she is not eating to fast she still puts' her fork down to get her in the habit of stopping herself from doing this , am i making sense, i cant say i know how you feel but i can tell you i eat fast and at times she watches me eat she says to me " if i ate as fast as you do i would get sick" i, i can only imagine how you must feel i can sense that you might be putting pressure on yourself to do it "perfect" there is no way to do it "perfect" there is only one way and that is your way and that's to try and slow down and remember its not a race therefore slow down the good thing is you are aware of it and that's huge some people never make that connection you did so you're a step ahead of the diet be gentle with yourself you will be ok i promise coming here and venting is so ok that's what we are here for , i am here if you want to talk and if we become friend who knows i wish you well truly i do just relax the rest will fall into place.😊 Coop

To put less [apparently] catty. We each obviously have different requirements and situations. I had far, far, FAR more weight to lose, "Eating a full meal" obviously meant something very different to you than to me. I needed to change what "eating a full meal" meant. I wanted to change every last eating habit, other than my preferences for protein and cheese. I had people try to sell DS to me on much the same terms you use, "eat a full meal", "no restriction", etc. Honestly there was a large appeal to it, but I knew I could easily (EASILY) out eat any such surgery. You may have been sure you would never wake up and decide you wanted out. I wasn't so sure, as I knew my path wouldn't take months, but years to get to goal, if in fact I ever got near it. As I said, I had a long row to hoe. When I lost 200 pounds, it was a promising start. RNY's are often modified, not that I counted on nor cared about that option. I am every bit as enthusiastic about my choice and my reasons as you are yours. I was once even as evangelical as you are. I've mellowed, which surprises me somewhat. Good luck and continued success. That’s ok and valid. I live alone with the exception of my son but I’ll also be by myself. This journey is for you, having the support is wonderful and naturally who wouldn’t want it but if you don’t have it, don’t let their lack of involvement derail all the wonderful things happening with you. Your success will be how you show them you don’t need their support. I know we’re not there with you but we’re here!

    January 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hi Everyone! I’m new to the app. I had my surgery yesterday 1/10/22. I had a hiatal hernia repair too. No nausea/vomiting just spasms.

So I had bought a variety pack of Premier Protein shakes and decided I was going to drink them. The cafe latte flavor was AH MAY ZING. The cookies and cream flavor tasted like bagged popcorn. I got it down, but ewh. The banana cream flavor tasted like sick and I poured it straight down the drain.

Did you taste buds change immediately?

For me, I think it's just the sweet flavourings. I have one powder that's unflavoured and only just a touch sweetened, that I can make a tolerable "iced coffee" with. The ones that are chocolate, or caramel, or blueberry or whatever flavours are just ... evil.

Immediately after surgery you are on liquid diet so you can't really tell tbh. But, the first time I had a protein shake a few days after surgery it was suuuuuper sweet to me, where before my surgery I didn't feel like it was sweet enough. So, by that I'd say yeah. Your taste buds do change almost immediately. At least by that experience. I hated eggs before my surgery... and I still hate them after surgery though so some things don't change.

    Denied by insurance

BMI and comorbidity needs to be present for at least 12 months if you are seeking eligibility based on BMI of 35-39.9 with at least 1 comorbidity. If going by BMI of 40+, you need to have that BMI for at least 12 months. Turned out the month my BMI hit 35 was also the month (07/2020) I was diagnosed with mild OSA and started CPAP therapy. My consult was in February, I had planned to pay out of pocket. My insurance coordinator recommended I wait until July to submit my paper work. Paper work was submitted 07/07, approved 07/13 and I had surgery on 08/04.
