    Taking my own advice - Hold myself accountable. Surgery 10/2020, HW somewhere in the 280's. Low weight 165 ... Current weight 175.... Why? Here's why... Last day tracked January 19th Last regular/daily tracking November 2021 Last day registered weighing - January (I still do weigh almost daily though) Eating/drinking (including alcohol) whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted - "Justified" it by telling myself "It's ok, I can't eat that much of whatever... and I'm drinking low calorie alcohol. All of this equals close to 10lb overall gain in a fairly short period of time. Failing to address it now will simply put me back where I started. If you've been at all successful in this journey, you know what works and what doesn't - Don't lie to yourself and pretend everything is fine and end up with a 20lb gain - Mentally 5 was my threshold and we see how that worked out. For me at least, I don't want to feel ashamed that I worked so hard only to fail in the long run. Today, back on track, I have no doubt that I will fall off the wagon again, but hey... it's a marathon, not a sprint. I WILL track food and drink - even if it's not something on my plan. I WON'T lie to myself. I'll set realistic/attainable goals. I WON'T do anything drastic (for me) like liquids only for x number of days - It isn't sustainable and results with me doing stupid things.

    So excited for you! I just joined today and am loving the supportiveness of this group. Loved hearing you say "But as I’ve read on here, enjoy the journey. Don’t rush. Be patient. Be gentle." I definitely need ed to hear that. I was going to start last year on this journey, but got side tracked by Breast Cancer. All set now and ready to go. Starting pre-op diet this week. Causing me much anxiety. Gonna have LapBand from 2009 removed in about a month, then DS 3 months later. And I can fit my required dietician visits in during that time so it all seems to be lining up.     according to your profile, you're hoping to lose about 150 lbs, so yes, you'll almost certainly have loose skin. Fortunately, most of us are able to hide it pretty well by the way we dress. I'm sure no one noticed mine (well, except my husband...). I originally lost 235 lbs, so I had a ton of it (I've since had it removed since it was driving me nuts, even though no one could see it). Honestly, I think I can speak for most vets who've lost 100+ lbs that we'd take the lose skin any day of the week over being morbidly obese again. ANY DAY!!!

    Hi! My program stresses lean proteins at the stage I'm in (pureed), so I'm eating canned chicken breast, tuna, and sometimes egg salad. They cautioned me on sodium, which is usually very high in canned and condensed soups. I think the concern is sodium can dehydrate you. Sounds funny, but I searched on Pinterest for simple recipes I could make at home and customize to my liking. Many of the pins link to bariatric patient geared sites with people years into their journey, so there's lots of insight and tips.

    You can definitely count them towards your fluid goal - I like to have my spinach blended in, so many times I would have shaked with or without protein. I make them with half a cup of milk, half a cup of water and about 4 ice cubes along with some blueberries, spinach +/- protein powder. So I would input about 10 to 11 ounces of this blended smoothie towards my fluid goal and also input milk, blueberries, spinach and protein powder in my food log. When I am usually on a tight schedule and can't manage to have solid foods, doing so helps me meet my protein goals and even my fluid goal. And like someone pointed out, even my program has half and half when it comes to 64 ounces of fluid. At least half of it should come from plain or flavorer water and rest can come from other alternatives!

    I am so sorry that they are doing this but to wait till now to express their feelings almost seems calculated and manipulative. I hope that you choose you and do choose to continue this journey to good health. You deserve this and you have plenty of people here to root you on and support you throughout the process.
