Thank you all so much! I am moved by the support 💕 I just made a care.com account and found someone. She responded really fast and we spoke. She is OK with picking me up super early and picking me up after surgery. The hospital is a good drive but she does not mind. Today is my say day 1 of liquids surgery is next week! I hope this thread will help others. I'm new here too lol

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

I'm going to pack my phone charger, a robe and some slide on shoes for walking. Chapstick and hair things... toothbrush, toothpaste. My C-pap machine. I'm not really sure what else. Clothes to come home in. My 15 year-old daughter and I have been watching all the Oscar nominated movies before the Oscars at the end of March... if we haven't finished by my recovery time, we will take that time to catch up. My husband works from home and I homeschool my 15 and 17 year-olds (they will be on spring break the week of my surgery) and my daughter, who is 25 and lives 90 minutes away, is going to come home and "help" for a few days... which really means she is using my surgery as an excuse to come home and see the dog. I have a feeling we will be watching a lot of movies and if the weather is nice, we will be doing a lot of walking around the block.

Chew on popsicles! They were my lifesaver when I had my sleeve 7 years ago. I stocked up on my favorite sugar free tropical flavors for my post-op revision this next week Sent from my Z6201V using BariatricPal mobile app

I’m also March 9th! Best of luck to you! Working on my pre-op diet and it’s going ok so far. The temptations are not a joke, but I’m staying strong lol.

    Got my surgery date!

So I finally got my surgery date after about 7 months of waiting. I am feeling so many mixed emotions but mainly excited and scared. My surgery is on Valentine's Day or Feb 14th. I thought how symbolic because it's all about self love now in my life and treating myself to the life I deserve rather than put up with. It's been such an emotional journey for me. I'm so ready now though. I just need to remember the good over the ugly parts. I'm a little bit sad because I've only lost 26 lbs throughout this time but I worked really hard with psychologists and my psychiatrist to have a better relationship to food throughout all of these months. It was slow but my weight has been going down only for the first time in 2 years. I'm on my preop diet now. It's really tough but I'm determined to do what I need to be surgery ready. I've been drinking so much water having sugar free popsicles to curb my hunger pangs. It's almost messed up but I'm so excited to not have my appetite right after surgery for a little bit because it's quite a nuisance when you're eating 500 calories a day on a pre op stomach. Anyway, thanks for everyone's advice over these months. Just wanted to share the update and express my feelings. If you're going through the same thing I'm always open to talk. I went to Marshalls and tried on a few swimsuits today. The smaller sizes fit now but between a long torso and larger bust I had no luck finding anything that fit properly. Someone told me about a swimsuit specialty store that I plan to visit and hope to find a good fit to treat myself for all my hard work.

    Is anyone's spouse against WLS?

My husband is VERY against WLS surgery He says I haven't tried to lose weight or create a healthier lifestyle on my own. Now that I have been on the pre-op diet and losing some weight he says the same as another poster said ... why can't you just keep doing this? He also is very cautious about surgeries in general so that doesn't help. Sent from my SM-G781U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

Well I was very fortunate to have an uneventful recovery. The one change that has been hardest for me is to slow down my eating. Try it once and you will see. Or better yet start slowing down now for practice. I also for some reason have been able to eat more than expected at every stage so I have to measure everything. It has been a little adjustment to stop eating when I don’t feel full yet but honestly I think that it just a mind thing because after a few minutes I realize I am satisfied even if I don’t feel that full to the brim feeling. Another thing that is hard is not comparing your journey to others. I have been a slow loser from the start but many people continue to lose up to two years so just cause the weight doesn’t come off super fast doesn’t mean that it won’t. Just listen to your team and trust the process.

    February 2022 Surgery Buddies

My date is on Feb 3rd, I’m in Toronto and they have been cancelling non urgent surgeries now I’m scared mine will be postponed. Fingers crossed, I’ve been on the optifast for the last week and really don’t want to have to do it all over again.
