    Fruits

I wasn't allowed to eat fruit that had skins or seeds for the first few weeks (strawberries definitely have seeds) - but like others have said, check with your plan. Plans can vary...

    Will the cold ever end?

I’m almost a year post-op. I’m cold all of the time, unless I am in a hot shower or bath. I layer but find I am just cold under the layers. This is way worse than pre-op. Does it ever end or and I going to be cold forever?

    Emotions on high post op?

I def understand. I don't know what resources you have available but mental health counseling is sooo helpful. I started my bariatric surgery journey because I finally got help with my mental health. I received a diagnosis and medication which greatly allowed me to utilize counseling to my advantage. I have been seeing a psychologist for about 8 months now and we work on putting distance between my coping mechanisms and food. It allowed me to really prepare myself for this part where we feel naked with our emotions, unable to hide it under eating. I think take it day by day too. That's important but if you ever are able to, having a counselor or psychologist to help walk you through the journey is good. If you don't have access to that, I also like following binge eating therapists on Instagram. They offer sound advice about emotions and eating. Check out the_binge_eating_therapist on insta. There's also an amazing free app called Brighter Bite. You can use it to log your feelings, actions, urges and it gives you really amazing advice and coping exercises in the moment... kind of like a little eating disorder journal with helpful exercises. 1 week post op and I feel amazing!!

Hey…congrats. I had my surgery on 2/16 and I was just put on puréed foods 2 days ago. I went in at 236 and now I am 226, I think most of it is due to walking, My doctor has me walking at least one hr a day because unfortunately I am unable to excel is due to knee damage. I am back at school and work as well. Other than the occasional reflux or gas pain I am much better. I saw that a pair of pajama pants that were normally tight were no longer so and there was extra room in them now. I haven’t checked my weight since Thursday but I am pretty sure I done loss some more.

    After Surgery

Hey everyone, I have some exciting news, I got approved for gastric bypass this past Monday and, my surgery date is next month on the 22nd. I was just wondering what kinds of exercises that you guys have done and that you've had success in achieving also, I do have PCOS so I was just wondering for my fellow cysters how much weight have you guys lost in 2-12 months and what was your weight loss each month. I was also wondering what types of food did you guys eat after 2 weeks like what could you guys tolerate and, very lastly what can I expect before, during, and after my surgery?

Well for what it’s worth I got to 9 pounds from my goal without any exercise other than walking just by measuring my food so it can be done. I need to add exercise to get all the way there I think. At the same time when I lost a family member recently and went off plan it was super easy to gain some too. I think because I could eat so much when I wasn’t measuring.

You've gotten great advice so far and I don't have any practical advice to add. I would like to say, enjoy the process as much as you can. I know it sounds weird but when I had my sleeve surgery 7 years ago I rushed things and kept thinking about the next step. For my revision to bypass on Tuesday the 1st, I treated myself to new pajama pants to take to the hospital, I bought exciting flavors of protein shakes. My backpack is going to be light... Phone, long charging cord, lip balm, my noise cancelling headphones to help block out some of the hospital noises, my 3 ring binder of surgery info, pajama pants and not much else. I've had 2 endoscopies and another unrelated procedure in the past few months and I did much better with letting myself relax. Sent from my Z6201V using BariatricPal mobile app

    No Caffeine

My sleeve surgery is on Feb 23rd too. I'm excited for the next part of this journey. I gave up sodas over a year ago I'm not going to lie it was hard giving it up. Dr Pepper was my life from the time I got up in the morning until I went to bed at night, so addicted! I just want to say diet cokes of any kind are not good for you they actually can make you gain weight and the sweeteners in them are bad for you. It took a long time to wean myself off of soda but then when I got Covid in October 2020 my taste for sodas changed it burned when I drank it so I just stopped. I now drink only water, tea, milk, crystal light and v8 juice. I've lost 70lbs, this is before surgery, and I have more energy than I did before. It's hard to give something up but you should really find the reasons behind why you have to have it and find reason why you and your health don't need it. Pros and cons! Good luck to you and your journey!

    Normal Bites?

I have been able to do Normal sized bites all along. I just chew them better most of the time. Honestly I have caught myself eating fast and it doesn’t bother me but I try to chew better and slow down between bites.
