Girl I'm literally in the same boat, I'm terrified. My surgery is on Monday. I am on the verge of a panic attack and feel like every possible thing could go wrong. I'm really trying to think positively and I know the cons of long terms obesity are just as severe but let's face it, it's a huge scary change. I am praying for you and sending so many good vibes and well wishes for your journey. At the end of the day I know all we can do is endure and conquer these obstacles. P.s. I'm also in Tampa. I'm working with Advent health's program. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi, I'm new here... I'm wondering about the stages of diet. If I feel up to it, can I take a few bites of very mushy or pureed food if I'm still in the full liquid phase? I'm not talking about anything major, but foods from the next phase. Eggs, cottage cheese, sugar free pudding... I basically just began phase 2 but it feels the same as stage 1 to me. (I'm not a full week out yet, but my dr said to begin phase 2 on 5 days out, which was yesterday... today was a big turning point for me in terms of strength and pain, and I'm TOTALLY sick of the liquids! I'd love to take in a little bit of something real.)

    Acid Reflux

Oh I haven't had the bypass yet, that's what I'm in the process of doing. Revising from lap band (it's removed) and now hopefully I will have the bypass in the next couple of months. We're hoping that it cures the acid issues. I'm hopeful! And thank you, catwoman!

There was a lady on here in the last 6 months who got as far as the hospital on surgery date and ran away, too scared of what she was about to do to herself. If she sees this I hope she contacts you. If not why not ask for another date. You need to know its what you truly want and need at this time in your life. Its is a big commitment to make and when you are in panic mode its not the right time for it. I feel for you and wish you well.

I totally get that. It's a major surgery and you're bound to be scared. I was most scared of dying on the table and I had mentioned this out here how I had even written post dated emails to my very close friends and family. Rest I didn't even think about much. I just went in with the mindset no side effects would be as bad as my pre-Op condition (debilitating depression that took away years of my life). Hence nothing else seemed as scary and just thought to deal with whatever was written in my post-Op journey. My suggestion would be to imagine how life would be post-Op than your current one. Is it worth the risk. Are you satisfied and happy with your life now? If no, then take the chance. Side effects can happen to anyone but go with a positive mindset and you just may have a similar graph as a lot of us out here. 🤗

Interesting. All I know is that Since about 2 months past my surgery I stopped being so dang hot all the time and sweating like crazy. Summer was coming to a close so I wasn't really sure if it was my imagination or real and didn't have time to really test it out. Guess I'll know for sure this Summer. LOL But doing things around the house that normally made me hot and sweat regardless of the time of year like cooking, cleaning, carrying anything of weight, etc. would have me drenched in sweat and would take me forever to cool down from. Now, NOPE! Doesn't happen any longer. We also always sleep with two fans on all year long and since surgery I find myself cold doing that and have gone from sleeping in underwear only to sleeping in fuzzy long pants and long sleeve shirts. LOL NOT complaining though cause I can always do things to easily get warm but it was next to impossible to cool down when I was always hot. Having said all that, my own coldness hasn't stopped since it started even though I've been stalled since Oct 25th. Well, I should say I was stalled since then, then I contacted my nutritionist in December some time and made some adjustments and then the scale finally moved again and I have since lost an additional 4-5 lbs but yeah, not sure that logic/theory applies to me as my stall seems to be constant (not actually losing weight or inches) and yet I remain cold all the time. I just finished converting a good size shed, that was sitting empty doing nothing, into a gym. That had occupied all of my time and energy all of January and exercise went to the wayside. So starting Monday I plan on getting back on track with my exercise and HOPEFULLY then the weight will start dropping regularly again.

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

I am right there with you! Originally scheduled for 1/20, but postponed due to covid patients. I just found out on Friday that I am scheduled for 3/1. During the 4 weeks of not knowing what was going on, I was ready to throw in the towel. Thankfully I have maintained my weight. but need to restart the liver shrink diet ASAP!

    Eating out after bypass

I'm 15 months post surgery (and in maintenance), and can eat about 1/2 of a cheeseburger and a few fries. It's great to be able to eat a little, enjoy the taste, and feel completely satisfied. In the beginning, I would feel full after one bite, so instead of ordering a burger for myself, I would just have a bite of my husband's burger instead. When I eat out, I usually order with the intention of having leftovers, so try to order things that will reheat well. If it's fast food, I'll opt for the kids meal, and still end up being able to share it with one of my kids.
