Excited to be new to the group

Hello and welcome. I see you already have a bariatric therapist which would have been my advice. I struggle with boredom eating and I am still trying to find a good therapist in my area to help with this. I’m losing but it’s more of a struggle than it would be without disordered eating issues (I assume). I have found bariatric pal to be a wonderful source Of support and hope you will too.

You are never too far gone. ❤️ There is a lot going on in your world and several factors at play. First of all, remember that some amount of regain is pretty normal. Most WLS patients do not stay at their lowest weight for long, so that may just be where your body has settled. Have you had labs done recently? Burning Mouth Syndrome is sometimes linked with nutritional deficiencies, which WLS patients are at increased risk for, so there may be some overlap there. Stick to the foods you can comfortably and safely eat, while focusing on protein and fluids as much as possible. Try and work in some movement when you can. Recruit help if you can. And prioritize your own health & wellness. You are the only YOU your family has and you deserve health & happiness.

    Feeling bad

Go to your closest medical centre or get an appointment with your GP. You shouldn’t be feeling this unwell. Doesn’t sound like the traditional COVID symptoms but they do change with each new variant so 🤷🏻‍♀️. Could be some other virus like vertigo virus, low blood pressure, hypoglycaemic episodes, …. or something that’s happened in your digestive system. All the best.

    A stall already?

most people get that stall at or around the three-week mark - so it's late for you. Don't do anything besides stick to your program and stay off the scale (only weigh yourself once a week or so until you get through this). It'll break and you'll be on your way again. Since they typically last 1-3 weeks, you're likely near the end of it.

I had a sleeve 7 years ago and wish I would have known about the high prevalence of damage due to acid reflux after the sleeve. I now need to revise to bypass to stop the damage from getting worse. If you have any history at all of reflux, I'd be talking to your doctor about doing a bypass instead Sent from my Z6201V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Reward Yourself for Consistency

I heard somebody say this the other day and it really resonated with me. She said, "Reward yourself for consistency." Too often we set unrealistic goals over which we have no control, like "I've got to lose 5 lbs by the end of the month and if I do, I'll buy myself a new sweater." But what if instead we rewarded our BEHAVIOR instead of relying on the results, which may or may not come by the scale. Say, for instance, we rewarded ourself for tracking our food every day for a month. Or we rewarded ourself for every 10 times we exercised. It can be small things like a mani/pedi or a new outfit or a foot massager or movie tickets or anything, but reward yourself for making the effort.

Go on youtube. THere are so many of these videos. I probably watched 20 of them from different people who made a video regarding this exact subject. Was very informative.

    Proper weighing of Halo Top?

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I also reached out to Halo Top and got a less than helpful response just telling me the difference between ounces and fluid ounces. The most useful responses advised to check the grams per serving on the container which I didn't even think of - the serving size on the one I've been eating (Cookies and Cream, yum) says it's 3 servings of 2/3 cup each and then in parentheses 88 grams which is the key. One ounce in weight is equal to 28.3495 grams, so 2/3 of cup in weight is equal to 5.33 ounces which on the scale would be 151.103 grams. So by using the scale and measuring straight ounces (4 ounces) I'm getting 113.398 grams which is actually greater than one serving. To get one serving I should be measuring out 3.104 ounces which equals 88 grams in weight. Or at the very least I should be tracking it properly if I continue to do a 4 oz serving.

    My Face Is Broken!

Yep. Further, at 9 months post-op, I renewed my passport early (2 years before it was set to expire) because it was getting annoying/stressful having to explain that i was in fact me at airports. Im 3+ yrs post op now and a few months ago, I renewed my driver’s license and its nice to not have to explain my appearance to the people at the liquor store when I get carded. Though getting carded at all is an NSV in itself cuz im like 50 years old. Lol. Congrats, and enjoy the broken face!

    My Face Is Broken!

Don’t know about you but I think this is the best non scale victory ever - even though it’s hindering you being able to access secure apps. Just think your phone is seeing that you have cheek bones, fewer chins, less droopy eyelids, improved facial definition, etc. even if you don’t yet. Time to look more closely in your mirror I think @lizonaplane. It’s wonderful. Love it.
