Hi there, I don’t have exactly what you are looking for but have some thoughts about confidence. I have just scheduled a few consults and am >300 lbs and have continued to date. Not everyone is interested in me. That’s fine and I don’t let that stop me. Therapy has gotten me to a place where I see myself as strong and confident despite my imperfections I found reading Brene Brown’s books or watching some of her Ted talks on the power of vulnerability, shame, and the power of imperfection very useful. Now there is weight/size but after surgery there may be extra skin, stretch marks, and even regain so my one piece of advice is to try to think of all of those physical “flaws” as battle scars from fighting a disease that not everyone has to deal with. If people you date don’t give you the respect you deserve then screw them. You are strong in your imperfection and deserve better.

Hi I’m 34 and looking forward to having the sleeve next year. I’m really hoping this surgery will boost my confidence and help me get back into the flow of dating. I’m so tired of being used, closet girlfriend or finding out I’m a side chick. Oh that’s hard to even write. It hurts and has caused me to kinda shut down on the dating. I’ve always been very out going, confident and enjoyed dating and I can’t wait to be there again. I’d love to hear some uplifting stories of dating success after survey.

    Food

It’s a personal choice. How does it fit in with your daily nutrient allowances, caloric goals & macros? You could always make your own to cut back on the sugars & fats & have better control over the dried fruit & other ingredients. I’m a traditional rolled oats person. Add my own seeds & fresh blueberries. Make it with milk & get 15g of protein per serve & 0.4g naturally occurring sugar from the oats (& about 15g naturally occurring sugar from the milk not sure what from the blueberries). It is high carb but oats are a whole grain & a high quality carb - helps keep you regular too.

Hell yeah! I say I’ve earned my loose skin. It’s a daily reminder of where I’ve been & where I am now.

Hi Sherry, You need to get your family on board to support you. Explain to them how hard it is without their support. Its very easy to be tempted to eat food when its there. Could you possibly get your own fridge and cupboard space for your food so that you don't see the other food? You are still 22kg lighter than when you started so that is a good thing. being in lockdown would be hard we have been very lucky where I live. Could you start an indoor hobby like art and craft or reading/writing something that will keep your mind off food? also try an app that you can track your calorie in take. I use one called my fitness pal. its easy to use not sure if its available in different languages but worth having a look.

Congratulations on the weight loss!! That is so amazing. I bet it feels amazing. I could totally see where your coming from. The thought of someone not liking me now but liking me then makes me feel yucky. Yes I physical will change but I’m still me. I’ve heard so many times your so petty but….. I live in Southern California where a big girl just doesn’t fit the scenery. It’s sad but the truth.

Why the same advice over and over?

Well I think that when people reach out for help from regain, they're looking for advice from others that experienced regain and what worked for them. Obviously not every approach works for every person but MANY here have found great success conquering their regain. For me, when I had regain and saw my bariatric team, they told me all the things that I knew they would say- do a post opt diet, go back to protein shakes, portion control, etc. A health issue required me to achieve nutritional ketosis and that's actually what helped me lose all of my regain and more. I conquered the health issue and lost my regain and have maintained over 5 yrs.
