@Arabesque I have the same question about why am I still on pureeds! I am STARVING all the time! Even my surgeon's diet guide says soft foods start approximately 5 weeks after surgery. The surgeon scolded me on Facebook and said at 7 weeks out I should only be eating 3 tbsps of pureed food. I think the plan has changed or something happened to make the surgeon change the method, but the diet guide was never updated. It could be so that people lose more weight more quickly. I ditched the support group, it's not a requirement. I have started testing the water with soft foods. I've been doing some tough workouts in the mornings, and I feel like I need an egg every now and then, lol (soft boiled or poached of course!). Thank you to everyone who responded! I feel less like a failure hearing from all of you! And I really appreciate all the thoughtful input. Sent from my SM-N976V using BariatricPal mobile app

    School After Surgery

Hey y’all! I need some advice. I am getting the sleeve on December 6. December 30 I will fly to another state for my first semester of grad school. It’s a hybrid program, so I’ll be on campus for 9 days from 12/30-1/8 and then home again until June. I am SCARED to have surgery and then go to class so soon after. It’ll be sitting mostly and I get my own hotel room, but I don’t know what to expect. Am I crazy to try this? Any tips? For reference, I am 30 and have recovered well from surgery before. I was back at work a week after sinus surgery and able to move normally less than a week after my c-section in January. Thank you!!

I've never been to Indiana nor your Bariatric group but I want to lend some support and encouragement. It sounds like the office staff are not doing a good job and you get to suffer and (literally) pay for it. Sometimes it feels personal, doesn't it? It is certainly frustrating. It also sounds like communication is pretty bad. I'd guess that any non-emergency surgeries have been put on hold because of the spike in Covid cases over the summer. Of course, whatever the reason, they have failed in the communication area also. Keep banging the drums to get them moving correctly. You will get there eventually. Good luck, Tek

I use loads of spices in pretty much everything. I hate bland foods. Nothing is more boring that bland food.

I actually bought a few bariatric books when making my decision. I’m reading Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies right now. Losing weight and keeping it off is definitely in our head. The surgery is only a tool. If we don’t follow the expected guidelines that come with the surgery then we set ourselves up for failure. Those books are perfect to help us on our journey to become healthier. Thank you.

    Post op lag

At day 5 I was pretty miserable. At day 7 I tried to check my work emails and had to quit after 30 minutes - the brain fog was real! At two weeks I was ready to work again (desk job) but I needed breaks to clear my head. I'm a month out today and I'm back to mostly full speed now, although eating has it's challenges. You're only 5 days out from MAJOR surgery. Yes, you need a support system, but I had a great support system and I still needed two weeks to be able to work a desk job again. You'll get there!
