    Five years!

Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of my sleeve surgery. I am so glad I did this, and wish I'd done it years ago! It hasn't been without struggles, and I had hiatal hernia surgery in June 2021 because my sleeve had "slipped" up into my chest cavity. Still... all is good, I am SO MUCH BETTER since having the hernia repair, and I have kept all my weight off. I am just happy, and want to say to those with doubts... YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Hello! I am wondering for those that experienced a change with your taste buds, did that happen immediately after surgery or at some point afterwards? TIA!

Immediately after surgery you are on liquid diet so you can't really tell tbh. But, the first time I had a protein shake a few days after surgery it was suuuuuper sweet to me, where before my surgery I didn't feel like it was sweet enough. So, by that I'd say yeah. Your taste buds do change almost immediately. At least by that experience. I hated eggs before my surgery... and I still hate them after surgery though so some things don't change.

My job gave us a Panera gift card for job appreciation. I'm at 6 weeks from surgery date not sure about using the gift card. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance Sent from my SM-N981U using BariatricPal mobile app

It was immediate for me, the bone broth I loved and couldn't get enough of pre-op suddenly tasted like liquid pennies to me. In general, I'm not as huge of a fan of salt as I used to be and I've found myself craving spicy as opposed to salty.

    I NEED HELP!!

Do you happen to take a PPI? They can aid in the depletion of magnesium.

    Approved! Surgery 30 Nov. 2021!!!

I'm so excited and just have to share the news that insurance has approved surgery! I have been going through all of the motions since January and am so excited! A little about me: I'm 46, mother of two kids (10 & 7), and I teach 6th grade. I had medullary thryoid cancer and my thyroid was removed in 2008. Even though my thyroid hormone levels are within range, weight has been a problem ever since the removal of my thyroid. Have I mentioned that I am SO EXCITED?!?

    Small NSV

I had the same experience recently. I went to try on clothing and tried on an XL and it was too big. I am now in a large from a 2X and it is very motivating! Now I am motivated to get into a medium for the first time in over 30 years.
