I thought that now I'm in my 60s, I'd be safe from unwanted male attention. Nope. Well, mostly - but not completely. This one situation might be unique, but some 24-year-old tried to make a pass at me last spring. I about died. I'm older than his mother!! (well, and I'm married, too....). Fortunately, most of the younger ones have no interest - but my contemporaries - yea, I do get some attention. But I'm older now and can usually handle it.

Sometimes I think you just have to be flattered and then move on knowing that some men are just that shallow. Anyone that goes to Costco probably knows they usually have an automobile of some sort in the front of the store that advertises a local dealer. One day while there I was looking at a cute little Mazda Miata. I loved driving a little sports car before I traded it in for the mom-mobile many years ago. Been in an SUV ever since! Anyway, while I was looking, a guy walks up to me and says, "you should buy this." I asked why and he said , "because you'd look really hot in this." I said to him, "I bet I'd look even hotter if you were driving me in this!" He said, "gee, thanks." And then off he went...to find his wife, I'm sure! I know he wouldn't have said that to me 130 lbs ago!

Hello! I am also scheduled for 9/20. I am still awaiting approval though, which is super frustrating, but I am hoping this all works out. I am not getting bypass, but sleeve. Yes, it's been a long process, but I feel blessed for the opportunity and excited for the changes to come!

I'm September 13. I'm so excited and scared and nervous!! What are you all doing to keep distracted? I'm watching a lot of TV, which is really unusual for me. My parents are coming into town this weekend to help me after surgery.

From what I've read, each surgeon/program has their own preferences for pre-op diets and the results vary pretty widely. The primary goals are 1) to prove ability to adhere to a diet (this is mostly an insurance thing, I think) and 2) to shrink the liver, but even if the liver remains relatively fatty, the surgery can still be conducted. It generally requires an additional incision to allow for direct liver retraction and can make the surgery time longer, but its not impossible. That being said, I would say if you have researched your surgeon and are confident in their skills/success rate, then you have no reason to doubt their pre-op diet recommendations. Its very likely that they are moving you towards a low carb, reduced calorie diet, even with the inclusion of some fatty/carby foods. And as you progress closer to surgery, the diet may become more restrictive/specific. If your trust your surgeon, trust their process!

    Adding protein drinks

The best tasting and highest protein drink I have found, and I've tried a lot, is Fairlife Core Power vanilla. Tastes fantastic, and has 42g of protein per bottle. Because the calories are a tad higher than recommended, I drink half a bottle at a time, which is fine because the bottles are fair-sized. Sent from my KB2007 using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes, makes perfect sense. When I do what I'm supposed to do I can take off weight fairly easily but not as easily with the band and I haven't been as motivated to keep it off. I had my band removed in 2018 and I am now 2 weeks post op VSG. I'm glad to hear that you have done the work and have a supportive circle. Now, it's up to us to commit, remain consistent and do what we know to do.

    Skin Removal Recommendations

Here are few favorites: Oppenheimer, Hockstein, Earle, Zuriarrain, Hammoudeh You can check out their website, IG FB, etc for before/after pics. Miami is the center of the PS universe. If you go to Miami, I would recommend the private practices only, and stay away from the clinics!
