    New here

I'm September 13. I'm so excited and scared and nervous!! What are you all doing to keep distracted? I'm watching a lot of TV, which is really unusual for me. My parents are coming into town this weekend to help me after surgery.

    Preop to vsg question

    What is your question?

I had surgery on 8/31 and I am back to work today. I drove 40 minutes to work. my incisions cured up very nicely so it has not been hard for me at all. I am not struggling at all with pain. I was driving at day 7 to my one week appointment, no problems. I do wear thigh high compression sleeves on my legs to be extra careful sitting in the car that long.

When can I go to in person class?

@Maribelle76 is right. We all heal & recover differently. I returned to work part-time after 4 weeks & I struggled because of brain fog & low blood pressure (had a tendency before but after surgery it was low all the time). One friend was fine after a week but another needed three. If you can zoom your classes I’d take advantage of it to begin then try in person to see how you go. Hope all goes well with your surgery & recovery.

I was insurance paid. Took about 5 months start to surgery. I had office notes to satisfy one of my monthly supervised weight management appointments.

    Help

My surgeon told me to stock up on Gas-X (simethicone) and to make sure I chew it to basically liquid.

    Psych Meds after Gastric Bypass

I also have bipolar disorder and my surgeon and psychopharmacologist both suggested I do sleeve rather than bypass, which I wanted due to possible GERD. I don't take anything that is extended release, but they still felt it would be better for absorption. I got a second opinion from a different surgeon, and she didn't think I'd have any problem with bypass, but she still recommended sleeve as it's an easier operation. I decided to go with sleeve... I'm still nervous about the surgery upending my mental health, but I am taking the risk to be able to be more active. Just stay in touch with your mental health providers so you can let them know right away if you're starting to struggle.

    Sleeve to RYGB

I had a revision from sleeve to RNY and from my 10 day pre-op diet plus the first month after revision, I have lost 26 lbs. I will be 61 soon and am in One-derland to give you a little background. Everyone is different but that is my current story. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Infection Scare!!

I'm actually currently on Bactrim for an infection. Not for Lap Band surgery (that was almost 8 months ago), but for an emergency strangulated hernia surgery. I had redness around the drain coming out of my stomach so I went in to have it removed early the Sunday before last. They removed it but it remained very red and a little sore. Imagine my shock when a week later, on Saturday, the hospital calls me and says "You need to contact your doctor, your wound culture came back positive for a Staph infection". I panicked momentarily because I know Staph can be really nasty. When my doctor's office called he told me there's different types of Staph, that the kind I had wasn't horrible, and he was calling me in a prescription. I have been on the antibiotic for 6 days now. All the redness and soreness is completely gone and it's healing nicely. Good luck, I'm sure yours will clear right up too!
