    Post VSG Regrets?

Hi @MerelyMichelle. You may have a stricture. They occur because scar tissue forms & narrows your tummy. Symptoms include difficulties swallowing, nausea, vomiting, inability to eat certain foods, discomfort/pain. A simple endoscopy will discover if that is the cause of your problems & can be easily repaired endoscopically (balloon dilation). Ask (demand) your surgeon explore this as a possible diagnosis. You shouldn’t be experiencing what you are.

I think you need to reset your expectations. You've done MUCH better than most of us. It sounds like you're very successful! stalls are a common "feature" of weight loss. When you hit one, just stay the course and stay off the scale for a few days. As long as you're following your program, they'll eventually break and you'll be on your way again. We've all been there....

    Post VSG Regrets?

SEVEN YEARS post op and I don't regret it. Surgery quite literally saved my life. I would do it again in a blink. This is a TOOL and like any tool in your garage, you must keep it sharpened and well honed. Myself, I will always identify as a WLS patient and it is constant work every single day. I'm not one who had surgery, lost my weight, went back to eating all things in small amounts, and kept it off. I TRIED eating all things in small amounts and had BIG regain. I'm glad I did it. The only down side is that at 7 years out, there are very few of my OG forum folks still around from that long ago!!

What @Dinah said, just happened last W/E. Lots of saliva and very little food. I didn’t chew my eggs as thoroughly as I should have. It reminded me of baby spit up, only my entire abdomen felt horrible.

Hair loss 4 months post op

Mine was just under 3 months. I was already on biotin before but I’ve heard from RDs that it doesn’t really help. So I just made sure to get enough protein, take my vitamins and wait it out. The loss part has pretty much gone back to my normal loss level but haven’t started seeing the little fuzzy new growth yet.

Wish I had a trick to help, but I'm a stall-and-whoosh loser, too. Here's wishing you a good three-pound whoosh soon!

I'm a university professor. I would have had the physical stamina to read or watch a lecture but for a couple weeks after surgery I felt like I was in a brain fog and couldn't focus. I also had an easy recovery with no pain. I did my surgery over winter break when I was off work and glad I did. However, I could have handled had I done it during the semester I just would not have been giving it my all.

Confused about throwing up (sorry tmi)

I understand what you are saying. I always called my VSG my sleeve or stomach, not pouch. I can kind of understand the pouch idea with the gastric bypass because things get stuck in our "pouch", which is the size of an egg, and not our stomach. Thank you for your response. I only threw up once with my VSG in many years. Then again, I had a very conservative surgeon who made it 10 ounces instead of the 3 - 5 ounces. I wish I could say the same thing that I never foamed or threw up about my revision to RNY. 😆
