    Derma Rolling Loose Skin?

Hate to tell you but the only way to get rid of loose skin is surgery. Sad but true. Think of your skin as a hair band you’ve stretched out from lots of use. Ain’t nothing going to make it shrink back to how it was when it was new. Your skin is elastic too. How much loose skin you will have depends on many factors: age, gender, highest weight, how long you had been obese, genetics, etc. Doing weights will help fill in some of the loose skin & strengthen & refine your underlying muscle structure but it won’t make the loose skin disappear. Most of those ‘beauty’ type treatments like needling, radio frequency, uv lights, etc. only offer temporary fixes. Stop them & the effects disappear. When you near/reach your goal you may look a little gaunt but don’t worry this does improve. For about 12 months after I reached goal (& when I kept losing) ‘well meaning’ people often asked me or my family if I was unwell. But once I stabilised about 7 months ago, the comments stopped. My remaining fat seemed to redistribute. My butt isn’t quite a saggy & my face looks fresher & fuller. So don’t rush off to do drastic treatments. Give your body a chance to settle. I rather have my loose skin then be the weight I was.

    Just So Proud

Hello all, I just need a spot to share my happiness since I don’t talk a lot about wls with many of people (it’s not a secret, I just haven’t made it a central point of my personality!) I’m about 3 months (3 months 1 week) post op for sleeve, about to go in for my 3 month checkup, and I’ve officially lost 60 pounds, which is also half way to my goal 🥰 It was tough getting started in the beginning, and I struggled to know how to eat had how much to eat properly. I’ve even had some setbacks gaining a pound or 2 here or there. But I set this goal for myself and I met it - I’m so happy. I am forever grateful for this journey, this opportunity, and this community along the way! Good luck to everyone and enjoy your day!

I would contact your team. I couldn’t handle the sweet shakes after surgery, so for the first 2 weeks my dietician gave me the okay to focus on staying hydrated. There are also protein waters available like protein2o and Gatorade makes one now.

    New to the group

Congratulations! Wishing you well with your upcoming surgery & weight loss. I am still pre-op, so there are others that can be more helpful, but reading the posts from people who have gone through surgery has been helpful for me. This site is a great resource, people on here are very helpful with sharing their experiences. I also like watching YouTube videos from people who have had the surgery (search VSG). There are many of them with all different topics (what they ate, what they brought to hospital, etc.) Here are a few different examples of YouTube posts. Each of them has multiple videos on various topics. There are lots of other personalities out there that you may find helpful.

    Period changes after vsg

I also struggle with PCOS and never had periods without Provera before surgery. I got my period 3 days post op until day 7 and I spot basically every other day now (I'm 2 weeks postop today) and was told that it was normal so my suggestion is just wear liners every day just in case ):

Part of the reason that I tell everyone that I am having surgery is to lessen the stigma, but it's mostly because I'm an open book. However, not everyone has supportive people in their lives and they should not have to take the abuse that may be hurled their way just so the stigma may be lessened. It's just too hard on a journey that is already hard. I think it's great for those of us who feel we can be open about it, but it's not always easy, and we should be aware that it's not always going to be an option for everyone for a variety of reasons. And honestly, are you really going to run up to random people on the street and tell them? Every time you meet someone who met you when you were heavier you'll have to make a decision as to what to tell them. I the people I chat with who work in the airport club that I was planning to have surgery - after one of the women said I looked like I had lost weight, and I said I was preparing for surgery, and another one started asking questions. It was a nice conversation, but it was a little unnecessary.

Thank you all for the information. Your comments have assured me to contact blossom on Monday. If I could ask you all. What day of the week did you fly down. I am Wondering what days they do surgery on. I know a few people who went to Mexico. Paying the extra 1400 or so to have the longer stay and in the US really gives me a piece of mind.
