So I had plastic surgery 3 weeks ago tomorrow. My surgery included belt lipectomy/360 tummy tuck, and breast lift with augmentation. Recovery has been tougher than I expected due to fatigue. I went back to work (RN in a large clinic) last Monday. The fatigue was unreal. On Tuesday, one of the doctors I work with decided I should be checked for anemia. I popped over to our lab and had a quick blood draw. I had finished lunch about 45 prior to getting the blood drawn. The next day when I received my lab results, I was surprised to see my blood glucose was 59. 😲 I do not dump, so I have been eating more simple carbs and sugars to try to keep from losing more weight. I had been eating some candy on Tuesday prior to lunch. Apparently, I have reactive hypoglycemia. No more simple carbs and sugars for me, except small amounts with meals. The bummer part of this, (aside from feeling extra crappy with low blood sugars), is that I am really anxious about not losing any more weight and don’t know how I am going to keep the weight on without the extra calories. I guess I need to increase healthy fats to make sure I keep my calories up. With that said, I have lost about 3 pounds since my plastic surgery. I never thought I would be stressed about losing weight. 🙄🤷‍♀️ I have an appointment with my surgeon’s office in a week and I am looking forward to discussing this with them. My labs also show some iron deficient anemia. I was not iron deficient nor anemic prior to plastics, so this is directly related to blood loss in surgery, and fairly simple to correct with diet and iron supplements (I don’t normally take any iron supplements). Over all, I am doing very well post-plastics. My pain has really been minimal since about day 3 post-plastics. I have had a bit of trouble with my incisions separating (dehiscence) in a few small spots. My husband is a wound nurse, so we have been managing the wound care with pretty good results. I am thrilled to have breasts again after going from a 40 DD to a 34 A. 😬😬😬 Anyhow, here are bikini pics to show off my post-plastics body…swelling included. 😂

    Surgery Date is Set!

Congratulations on your surgery date. Just stick to your plan and don’t compare your progress to others. Trust the process and you will do great.

This waiting game is no fun

Hang in there! And maybe call them and let them know you will take any cancellation spot that comes available and you can be ready within 24hrs [if that is doable for you]...If they sense your dedication, maybe get you scheduled quicker? It will happen! 😊

    June Surgeries

My surgery was yesterday. It was scheduled for 12 ;30 but there were some issues with the person ahead of me so I finally got in at 5:15. I was so glad they didn't postpone it because I was dying on that pre-op diet only to turn around today and find out that I'm still on liquid for the next 2 weeks!

    Approved and Anxious!

Congratulations on getting approval. Have you tried any of the clear protein drinks? They were a godsend for me right after surgery cause all the protein shakes were too sweet.

    Depression

Obesity and depression often go hand in hand. Prior to obsessing about your weight loss, it is crucial to deal with your mental health. Better still, you should focus not just on your physical state but also on your mental wellbeing. However, forums such as these can only provide moral support. You may need an expert opinion to deal with your mental health issues. Several clinical trials are being conducted globally that analyses the relationship between depression and obesity. Free services like http://centrial.org can help you find clinical trials being conducted on obesity and depression near you.

    Intermediate Fasting

There are a lot of magical properties ascribed to IF, but from a weight loss perspective, it is a convenient way to reduce the amount of calories that you consume in a day, if you don't overcompensate by loading all of your normally consumed calories into that reduced time slot. It's much the same with any of the other popular diets over the years - cut out fats, that's a lot of calories; cut out carbohydrates, that's a lot of calories. It all comes to an end when you learn to adapt and start consuming as many calories as you were before when you were gaining.

    Make Ur Own Jello Protein

Found this and it looked yummy! Ingredients: 1 packet of sugar-free Jello mix (JELL-O) 1 scoop whey Protein 2 tbsp. fat-free or low-fat yogurt 2 cups of Water Note: This recipe is good for 2 servings. Nutritional Facts: (amount per serving) Calories: 100g Total Fat: 0.5g Total Carb: 1.5g Sugar: 0.5g Dietary Fiber: 0g Protein: 16g Steps: Low-Carb Protein Jello Recipe 1) Use a cooking pan and pour 2 cups of water. Turn on the stove afterwards and allow the water to boil. 2) When the water reaches to its boiling point, turn off the stove and pour in the packet of jello. 3) Use a spoon and stir it occasionally. 4) When your jello has completely liquefied from the boiling water, use a Pyrex container or just a pan and pour the water into it. 5) Add 1 scoop of whey protein but before doing it, take two cups of cold water and add whey protein in the shaker bottle then shake it out until the powder dissolves. You can use any flavor whey powder you want like strawberry and vanilla. 6) When the Protein Powder has totally mixed into 2 cups of cold water, dispense it over the jello then use a spoon to mix it altogether. 7) Place it on the refrigerator for approximately 4 hours or wait until it is firm enough just like any other jello. 8) After 4 hours, you’ll have a pleasant and healthy strawberry-vanilla flavored protein jello. 9) Cut the jello into 4 pieces and just take one of those pieces then place it in a bowl. Afterwards, add your favorite fat-free or low-fat yogurt and some banana pieces on top of your yogurt. Again, it depends on your like if you like to have a banana on top of your jello recipe.
