No one can answer that question for you. Only you can decide whether you're up for a permanent change in your relationship with food. But we can share our experiences. Like many people, I had a tough first week after surgery, but by week 3, I was much better. I had no major complications and I lost all my excess weight. I have no regrets or complaints of any kind. There are lots of people on here just like me. The thing is, people are more likely to post about unusual or negative experiences, so you won't see a lot of folks logging on to post "Everything is still fine." So reading the posts can kind of skew your impression of how the surgery goes for most people. Complications happen, but it's more common to come through the surgery just fine, with no major problems. I wish you all the best in making your decision!

    Wow! Size 6?????

My daughter came home today and she told me I should try on some of her dresses from her college formal days. Never, ever, ever did I expect them to fit. I feel pretty good after I looked at these photos. Of course, I've got the whole "bat wings" going on, but I'm not going to stress over the details. Just wanted to share my joy of the moment!

What can I say to my work!

"I have a medical condition and my doctor has advised me not to fly". The exact nature of your condition is no one's business.

    Purée and stall?

Read this and read it twice or three times, put it to memory the scale will make you crazy. you will fluctuate. Period. your body retails fluid, your body retains waste, it takes time. It took time to put on and it will take time to take off. Try not to weigh yourself daily, I know that is a super hard thing to do. Your going to go up and down, and you will all out stall. It happens to all of us. All you can do is stay your course and know that as long as the trend is downward your making good progress A good poop and pee can be the difference of a pound or pound and a half, the clothes you wear, how wet your hair is, the little things can make you crazy but the bottom line is if you weigh yourself weekly or biweekly you will see bigger changes in the numbers and the ounces won’t make you nuts!

    Wow! Size 6?????

Someone on the bariatric Facebook page told me we should call the "angel wings". Such a softer, gentler term!

I had a really hard time eating or drinking at all for the first two weeks after my surgery and was still struggling somewhat a couple of months later. We were starting to wonder if maybe I had a stricture, so my surgeon said if it didn't get better soon, he'd do a scope. But I did improve, so we never had to do it. I think my surgeon was aggressive with the amount of my stomach he removed and that helped me to lose all of my excess weight. I haven't had any major complications, so I think he did a good job!

got to have a sense of humor !

Lol I grew up in a very small town, so I’m interested to see what people have to say as I drop the weight.

    Purée and stall?

Still haven't budged much. I've only lost 4lbs in the last six days, as oppose to the 2lbs I was dropping a day for the first 2 weeks. I've been the same weight for the last 3 days. I got really depressed this morning. I feel like I have and am sacrificing too much to be experiencing this right now.
