    Sleeve VS bypass

Hello. I'm new here. My surgery date is May 10th for the sleeve. I am now leaning towards bypass because I already suffer from bad reflux. I need real advice from the ppl who've "been there" to be able to make up my mind on which direction to go. Height 5'0, Current weight 208. TIA!

From reading your last couple posts, I get the feeling that you have already resigned yourself to take a baking sabbatical, and if that's what is best for you right now, it's all good. However, I can't resist, and I will though leave you with my FAVOURITE COOKIE RECIPE OF ALL TIME, FOREVER and EVER. No regular flour and easily adapted to use sugar substitute (swerve), I've made both sugar and sugar-free many times and the fam can't tell the difference. #yum Of course, I realize not everyone loves the taste of almonds/amaretto/marzipan as much as I do, so it may not crank your engine, but just thought I'd share, LOL #superyum Good luck with everything! ❤️ Dessert : Chewy Amaretti Cookies.pdf Here's a pic of when I last made them:

One thing I think is an actual problem within the WLS surgery community is all the bragging about how little someone can eat. I've seen it a lot but not so much on this site. Someone will say what they are eating and other people chime in with oh I can't eat that much or I cant have 1,000 calories that's too much. It's a weird flex and I think makes people freak out they're eating too much. The truth is we all have slightly different needs following surgery. I'm a foot or more taller than some other women having surgery. I'm assuming that we would have very different caloric needs even if we are all losing weight. Some people are very active and others not so. I tend to trust the experts and just do what they tell me. Clearly if I were good at doing this myself I wouldn't have ended up here.

Does your blood work show you are lacking in any vitamins, etc. What’s your kidney & liver function like? Your sugar levels? A post nasal drip will often make you feel nauseous. I suffer from postural low blood pressure so suffer regularly from head spins & loss of vision. My energy levels aren’t great either & have had a few hypoglycaemic episodes - cold sweats, drop in blood pressure, drop in energy, vision narrowing, nose running, etc. I had these before I lost weight but just experience them more often now. But I’m no expert. I encourage you to get some detailed work ups from your medical team sooner than later. Good luck.

you're actually lucky - a lot of people can't eat any solids at all. The only thing "solid" I could eat was sugar free Jello (which I ate with abandon since it was the only thing I could have that resembled real food). Otherwise, it was no-calorie beverages, broth, and V8/tomato juice (and the last two were limited - I think a cup a day). And 4-5 protein shakes. It was tough..

Wear a mask. And I know folks are out there who think they’ll get the second shot, rip off their mask and burn it right there in the clinic parking lot, but - STILL WEAR THE MASK. The science isn’t settled yet as to whether the vaccination means it also prevents you from passing it on. So there is a scenario where you’re vaccinated, you go to a large gathering maskless and YOU get everyone there sick because you were infectious and had no idea because the vaccine protected you from symptoms. So far, the one thing we’re sure of is the vaccine prevents cases from getting deadly, not whether it halts the transmission. And then there’s all the emerging variants stuff and please, please just mask up and stay away from other people. I am an exhausted, demoralized covid researcher and system designer and 2020 has been brutal for people being willfully stupid about a pandemic. It’s been sickening to watch people claim that “no one could have predicted this” when I know that’s bull because I told you in your office repeatedly what was going to happen and what you needed to do to mitigate and you told me it was too hard and your people would be fine. I can’t even imagine what it must be like for medical professionals.
