I'm so absurdly furious about all these people who are like "yeah I got a procedure and lost 10 pounds immediately." I *hate* how I look. I am adhering so pristinely to this diet after ESG that I could be a monk. And yet, not a single damn pound lost. Not one! THIS IS NOT EVEN FAIR. When do I get to look okay? When do I get results? Do I magically break physics? What the hell is wrong with me?! Am I just one of those magic people like PCOS folks whose bodies can survive on like 500 cal/day and still be fat? Bodies are awful, and I hate mine.

Immediately !! I coughed that whole first night after surgery and kept my roommate up it was so bad. I ended up having a revision 11 months ago because of esophagitis D and a hiatal hernia. I was afraid of getting the bypass too but as far as weight loss and maintaining it has been much easier. I honestly liked the sleeve better because of the restriction and being able to eat all foods, but the flip side of that was I constantly had to watch my weight and struggled just to stay around 170. I was 180 the day of my revision and this morning I weighed in at 150.8. This is the lowest I have ever been and usually maintain 155 to 159 with no stress. I had a temporary crown put on 2 weeks ago and dropped 8 lbs because I am not getting the food I usually eat because of pain. I go in on Monday for the permanent crown and am sure my weight will bounce back up. lol Good luck to you and whatever surgery you choose.

    Tired of waiting for surgery...

Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. I understand your frustration. I was able to fast-track my preparation and was set to go when Covid hit. I made the decision not to proceed with any surgery as I work in a profession that had/has an extremely high potential for Covid transmission. One of the doctors in the program kept reminding me to use the time to practice eating as if I was two years after surgery. I didn't want to hear it. But it was the truth. I was thinking that she was only referring to eating the amounts I could have after surgery. In reality, having to chew thoroughly and wait to drink have been the hardest. I should have practiced that more. While I have worked the entire time during the pandemic, you will soon have the availability to travel. Keep the faith and stay mindful of your desired results. You can do this.

Thanks! I might make these some time, but without the nuts on top (I like the flavor of almonds, but not whole almonds - it's a texture thing). They look a bit like pignoli, except with an almond instead of pine nuts (I would like pignoli except I don't like the texture of pine nuts either). Nuts do have a lot of calories, and I'm afraid I would eat too many. I really have to limit anything sweet and only eat it at night. I can't bake at night because I'm too tired to focus.

I've been reading a bit about non-surgical and minimally invasive skin-tightening options and I am coming across a procedure called Renuvion—which I guess is often done in conjunction with liposuction. Apparently, it stimulates skin from beneath to promote production of collagen. I'm wondering if any of you have heard of it or had it? I am basically to my goal and have been for about a year, but have some loose skin in my upper and lower abdomen and upper thighs. I'm not sure if it is worth going the entire LBL or TT route for... so was interested in all the options. I'd love to hear if any of you have heard of this.

    Breakup Because I Had WLS

I’m in the midst of a divorce. Although he didn’t cite my WLS as a reason, I think that combined with my recent plastic surgery led to him being incredibly insecure despite all of my reassurances.

    Can We Talk About...Birth Control?

IUD here. I do not experience weight gain except during periods.

    Can We Talk About...Birth Control?

I gained 40 lbs on that....but that was before WLS. Weight gain is evidently really common with that, so you were lucky.. It might be different after WLS, though. https://www.verywellhealth.com/will-the-depo-provera-shot-cause-weight-gain-906704

    Can We Talk About...Birth Control?

Condoms? Won’t affect your weight and are pretty reliable. I can’t use hormones at all because they cause me to have seizures (I have epilepsy) so that’s what I’ve always used. You could also use a cervical diaphragm or sponge if you don’t want to do the condom, I know it can be hard to use a condom every time with a long-term exclusive partner, and those are also pretty reliable barrier methods that won’t affect your weight but feel a lot more “freeing” than a condom lol. When I was researching options my doc told me that the Nuvaring and the patch have by far the lowest side effects for hormonal birth control, and the copper IUD doesn’t have hormones so it’s supposed to have few side effects as well. Good luck!
