    ONEderland! FINALLY!!!!!

I have been in a 26 day stall and my weight was driving me CRAZY as I was convinced I'd hit maintenance, but I felt slightly better after talking to my doctor on Wednesday when she told me my physical therapy was likely part of the reason my weight was fluctuating and not going under 201 but instead bouncing around from 201-204. I was incredibly frustrated and it just seemed like I'd never see under 200 pounds... BUT, this morning I weighed myself and saw 199.6 on my scale and... I cried! I'm so happy! It's super early here, not even 5am yet, so I'm trying to stop myself from waking everyone up to share my good news lol. Took me almost 13 months to get here, but I got here!

    Cool Sculpting

It's crazy expensive "per area" and requires multiple treatments "per area." I'm skeptical that something could be that easy or else everybody would be doing it. But that's just no two cents worth of opinion.

    Sleeved 2/11/21

Male, 29, 6'2, HW 338, PSW 320, CW 314 I just had gastric sleeve surgery on the 11th, stayed over night and was out of the hospital within 24 hrs or so. I was able to tolerate water the first night and full liquids the next day. My PA and surgeon said my surgery was great, took 25 minutes and that I only needed 4 incisions (some need 5?) because my liver was tiny. I did 3 separate laps around the ward that first night and walked around the room a couple times as well. The first night home I probably managed 1.5 protein shakes, 2nd day I had 2 and a protein waters, today I had 75 grams protein and tons of water so not seeing any issues there. Can anyone offer any insight on the following experiences (I have scoured the app as well haha, but more, and personalized info never hurts! [emoji23]): 1) I do have stomach pain when getting up or down that seems to be lessening with each day. 2) The night in the hospital and the 1st night home I got about 2 hours of sleep because I forced myself to stay reclining and am a lifetime stomach/side sleeper. The surgeon said it wouldn't cause an issue but most people don't because of pain/comfort levels. 3) Bruising on the lower right part of the stomach and around two of the incisions started on the 3rd day, is that normal? (especially paranoid because I first noticed it the day after stomach sleeping) 4) Starting a few months before surgery when standing for a while my left outer thigh would go numb, then tingle/burn if I kept standing. Dr. Google diagnosed this as meralgia paresthetica, a pinched nerve that goes over the hip and effects the outer thigh, matches exactly to what I experienced. I started feeling this again my first day home and then pretty much all day the last couple days as well. No symptoms of clots (color, swelling, shortness of breath, heart issues, unwell feeling). I walk almost every hour around the house, pace the hallway (snowpocolypse), but could do more, just want to make sure I am not overlooking something or if anyone else experienced similar. 5) Curious of when people knew they had GERD, the PA said if I wasn't feeling anything the night after the surgery or that morning in the hospital it is unlikely, but not guaranteed. I have never had it so unsure and a little worried to get it. Sorry for the novel, feel free expand on any/all/none of those bullets. I appreciate all the resources this community offers. Sleeve vs bypass

if you have GERD, go with bypass. If you don't, it comes down to personal preference. Statistically people lose more weight with bypass, but it's not by a significant amount. IIRC, the average weight loss is 70% of excess weight (RNY) vs. 65% of excess weight (VSG). I don't know that cutting out 80% of your stomach and throwing it in the garbage is any less invasive than putting a staple line across your stomach and moving your small intestine up, but that's just me. They both seem pretty drastic to me... anyway, you'll find people who are wildly successful with both surgeries - and others who have failed both surgeries - and others who are kind of in the middle. Success is really more a matter of your level of commitment rather than which surgery you go with. They're both good surgeries and if you're committed, you'll succeed with either one.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! Right after surgery, you'll feel awkward and possibly have pain. My advice is to walk as much as possible. I was in pain (intense side stitch) when I first tried to walk but it subsided. Walking released all the uncomfortable gas build up and made me feel so much better. Also, sugar free Popsicles were a life saver for me if your surgeon allows them. Good luck to you!

I had VSG and hiatal hernia repair in November. I was in hospital overnight, had no nausea and no pain. I did take Celebrex in the hospital on a schedule, but stopped it when I went home because I had no pain. I went for a walk around the block on day 2, and walked more distance in the days that followed. It was a super easy recovery. I've had C-sections and other abdominal surgeries and this was the easiest recovery of all of them. Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

I was in hospital for two nights and had IV fluids along with fluid panadol. Once I left hospital I didn't need any panadol, I did use two tablets the morning after I left hospital only because I was catching a plane. It was more a preventive move in case I got sore dragging my case around. I had very little actual pain, only discomfort around the incision sites. I guess everyone has different pain tolerances.
