Yes Unfortunately. I wish that there was just a set price for a procedure but it *seems* that when dealing with insurance companies (vs self pay) there is a range or a maximum Doctors and Hospitals will bill insurance companies. If you were to pay for surgery completely out of pocket they *probably* could give you a better estimate mostly because your are billed upfront and sometimes after if there was an unexpected variable. If you have access to any of your health insurance bills & documents (especially the Explanation of Benefits - EOB) check your last few appointments or procedures to see what was billed to your insurance, what the insurance actually paid and the patient responsibility amount (what you had to pay). That might help you understand your particular coverage a little better. Also definitely call your insurance company to verify coverage of the procedure and ask for it in writing. I know there are many people on this forum in the healthcare or Insurance field that may have even better explanations. I hope that helps a little ❤️

    Skin Removal Recommendations

Here are few favorites: Oppenheimer, Hockstein, Earle, Zuriarrain, Hammoudeh You can check out their website, IG FB, etc for before/after pics. Miami is the center of the PS universe. If you go to Miami, I would recommend the private practices only, and stay away from the clinics!

    Problem with taking the vitamins

Every morning, I put my patches on. They only have to be worn for 8 hours/day... So, I take them off before bed. They are very sticky, and hard to remove if I try to remove them too early... That's the only down side, really... So far, anyway.

    Problem with taking the vitamins

I can definitely tell a difference when I wear them and when I don't...I got bariatric-specific vitamin patches & I've been pleased so far. I googled and read about each kind to decide which ones I wanted to use first. Good luck to you in finding some you like!

    I’m sleeved and home

Great news! I am surviving on cranberry juice, broth, protein water and plain water. Hope you get some sleep at home.

    Recovery experience for roux-en-y

Keep in mind that I still have a lot of weight to lose, but I have definitely had improvements in mobility. It's a lot easier to climb stairs without carrying an extra 120 pounds! Easier to get in and out of chairs, etc. My knee and foot pain has improved a bit, but it's also counteracted by the fact that I'm exercising more. I also have better flexibility -- for example, no problem bending down to tie my shoes. My blood pressure and blood glucose are now on the low side of normal with no medication. And that's all on top of the benefits of not always being the fattest person in the room, being able to fit in chairs, if I ever fly again I won't need a seatbelt extension, I can buy clothes from some mainstream brands (still XL or XXL, but in brands that don't make clothes as big as I used to be).

    Should I still have surgery?!

I had similar thoughts, but I knew from decades of experience (I'm in my 60s), that if I lost weight, I'd always gain it back. If you're one who can lose it and keep it off, then you may be fine on your own. But I never could.

    Help! Thinking about cancelling

I too went to see the surgeon convinced I wanted the sleeve and I was afraid of the bypass. The surgeon told me I would benefit more from the bypass. This is because I have diabetes and he said people have more success putting diabetes into "remission" (not having symptoms anymore) with the bypass. I also have a high BMI. On 11/10, I am having the bypass because if I can kick diabetes to the curb I will. I have many diabetes complications; nephropathy, a damaged retina, an amputated toe, etc. To get off insulin and live without diabetes is like a dream. I have been reading about people who have had the bypass and now I no longer fear it, I'm looking forward to it! If you have something like diabetes, I would take the doctor's advice. I've had it almost 20 years and it gets worse with age. I am more afraid to get older and older with my all health problems than of getting the bypass. Just my $.002, I wish you well with whatever decision you make.

my advice would be not to stock up too much your pouch may reject it after surgery then your stuck with stuff you cant eat/drink. I would also get some of the extras like chewable gas x but usually you can ask for a script to go home with of it for when you feel the burp if you ask for it. Buy extra pillows if you dont have but two. Buy a couple for each side and a couple to make you lay higher so that you wont have to sleep sitting up on the couch. Some of us had to lol. Don't worry about packing for hospital they have everything you need there even mouthwash. Hair brush yes bring that if u dont want to use comb. Phone and charger necessity incase you get stuck in there for days. get a nice food pureer. i got magic bullet you need something to puree the foods in the next or third in some cases diet stage. disposable 2 oz and one oz containers make meal prep and clean up easier (a m a z o n). im sure everybody has a lot to add, and congrats. if we could keep it off on our own we wouldnt be this fat. if we dont have the surgery wed prob have the diabetes and other deathy ailments within five years. remember why you started. strange how the weight is just flying off... yet when we try to do it it was stuck and slow. it is painful though and hard i have yellow pee from not enough water as i type this and im tryin to get in the 64oz needed to turn things around. but lost two more lb today 😯
