    everything tastes gross!

That happened to me too, and even now that I am on soft food diet. I find these recipes I wanna try and I get all jazzed up and make it, then a couple bites in I'm grossed out and never wanna see it again. It's slowly passing. I'm not sure the reason, but I know it's frustrated. Just keep in mind it gets easier. [emoji18] Sent from my SM-N981U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Fatigue and not eating enough

Hello everyone 😊 I am a new member here, i did my VSG surgey on 27 Sep, 2020🥳 I am almost 4 months out of surgery 💪🏻✨ Just wanted to say sorry if you can’t understand what I am writing since English is not my first language 🙈 I am from Saudi Arabia btw ❤️ I wanted to get VSG for the past 2 years and read about about it, watched a lot of youtube videos for people’s journeys. I read about everything that could happen after the surgery and I thought I was prepared But starting this month I felt less motivated and more fatigued than before I don’t know why I can not eat very well I get full just by eating 2 bites and I can only finish half of the meal like if I cooked 1 egg (medium) I can only eat half maybe with 1 olive 🫒 if I have a toast with sliced turkey I can only eat 1/4 of it yesterday my dinner was 4 pieces of pasta with feta cheese and small chicken breast cubes and could only have 3 bites only by for ing myself to get the third bite I don’t understand, why am I eating and drinking so little? And is it really little or the correct portion? I can only drink up to 1200 ml which is around 4oz. I can not drink anymore than that still working my way to drink more 🙈 and every time I eat or drink i get a feeling like a pinch in my sides 🤷🏻‍♀️ I feel lazy and unmotivated, I just want to lay in bed all day anyone went through the same as me at the beginning of surgery?💔 I have anxiety and overthink everything so I don’t know if what I am going through is really bad or not 🙈

Hi everyone: I know that it may take some time for people to respond but I keep going to the doctor to complain but its not helping. In 2015 I had the sleeve but after losing 50 pounds, within 5 years I gained it all back. In July 2020 I had the bypass. I'm down over 110 pounds which is amazing. The problem is that I'm finding that even foods, that I originally could eat after surgery, I now can't eat. Almost everything I eat makes me nauseous or I get sick. I'm literally dependent on protein shakes and quest bars as my only source of viable nutrition. I was prescribed zofran but so far that hasn't helped at all. Did anyone else have similar experiences? Any guidance, thoughts, tricks or food suggestions would be appreciated. I really have found that all natural proteins make me sick. Thanks, Phil

    Backlash??

I had to step back from all forums for a bit. Even after surgery I was second guessing and even starting to get depressed. I wasn’t reading anything negative or being attacked or anything. I just needed to stop reading everyone else’s experience. This surgery was about me and my family and being healthy again. Medical professionals helped me to make this choice after attempts that I failed at to loose weight. My wife and family were supportive with my other failed attempts and this was my next option. As for the Covid aspect. If I was to get Covid at this weight I am more susceptible to being in the hospital anyway due to blood pressure and weight so... I’d be there either way. Why not go for the surgery and make it easier on the docs and nurses rather then go in with Covid. 2 days post op vs weeks with Covid. You are welcome docs and nurses. But truely my stepping back from the forums for a couple weeks has helped me. As well as going to the doctors and listening to my trusted medical professionals.

    Goal rewards—suggestions?

When I am down 100lb, I'm having a mini spa "day" (may be more than a day depending on when I can get appointments). An esthetician friend of mine said she would gift me a facial, waxing, and pedicure, and I also plan on getting a massage and a haircut. My goal is 120lb down... I'm not sure what I'm going to do at goal yet. 31lb till -100... 😁

22 Months Post-Op and losing control

Welcome back! Don't beat yourself up -- this has been a rough year for everyone and A LOT of people have had weight gain during the pandemic. It's not too late to get back on track. There are a lot of options for working out at home. I have no desire to go to a gym (plus, I live in a rural area and it would be a long drive to get to a gym), so I would rather work out at home. I do a YouTube video for cardio every day. There are so many free workout videos available (my favorite is Leslie Sansone). And you can do strength training with an inexpensive set of resistance bands. Maybe you could try cutting out snacks completely. For me, snacking was a big part of my weight problems in the first place, so I am now sticking to three meals per day and not snacking at all between meals, other than protein drinks (and the occasional sugar-free hard candy). I'm only 6 months out from surgery, so I'm sure it's easier for me than it is for you, but I find that a warm beverage fills me up for a while. I think tracking your food intake is really important. I love MyFitnessPal, and something that helps me is to enter my food BEFORE I eat it. If you're not up to that detailed tracking, you could try an app like Ate Food Diary. All you have to do with that is take a picture of what you eat and say whether it's on path or off path.

22 Months Post-Op and losing control

I'm so sorry that you are going through this!! As Dr Phil says "You can't fix what you don't acknowledge" so it sounds like you are getting on the right path! Congratulations on kicking the alcohol habit! Definitely not easy. I am fairly new here (well, almost 6 months out), but I have read a lot about the "pouch reset" which involves about a week of going back to basics. I think you need to get on a scale and then focus on protein and water goals again! Good luck!!

I just say “quite a bit”. Usually a conversation ender. If they are going to push it I will then compliment something on them “oh I love your ring /shoes/ bag. Get them to focus on themselves or something else. I lost weight to be healthy not to attract attention. Good friends know what I am doing/ have done. If someone asks with concern - as in are you alright you have lost so much weight - I smile and thank them for noticing and admire their ring/shoes....

I’m with @Recidivist. My diet was pretty repetitive, still is to be honest. Some of that was because I would freeze a lot of single serves of what I cooked. Still do - have multi serves of soup, bolognese, slices of corned beef, roast lamb, chicken tenders, steak, all cooked, in my freezer at the moment. (I love zip lock bags.) I found it meant I wasn’t focussed as much on food if all I had to do was have a lucky dip out of my freezer for a meal, pop it in the microwave & prep vegetables. I also don’t exercise. I know shocking! I walked on my treadmill for the first few months but gave up because of very low energy. Then I was using resistance bands. I agree exercise has its benefits but it contributes very little to actual weight loss - only about 20% of your actual weight loss apparently. I lost plenty without it but that’s been my experience. I have stairs in my house & I literally run up & down them a few times a day doing chores so I’m not totally sedentary - lol. And I do a few minutes of stretching each day. Honestly I find exercising tedious. I’ve never felt that high people say you get from exercising which motivates them. Good luck with your surgery.

    Backlash??

Yes, that is something I am working on. It has always been my first reaction... hard to push down the defensiveness sometimes when you are consistently having to prove that you are allowed to take up space... thank you! Yes, thank you! This site is amazing - I guess curiosity wins out sometimes...I really just need to stop going to the sites where trolls and ignorance rule. Ha. I have been following your progress - you look amazing! Congrats!!! Thank you for sharing this. I figured this may be the case. If someone is going to be hateful, they will try to do so at any opportunity they can. I am so sorry you experienced this! BUT, I am glad that you described it as pathetic. That is indeed what it is. Pathetic. Thank you! Oh my goodness! I really never thought of it this way! Thank you. You are right!! So good to hear this! Thank you. You are all right, people will be hateful, mean and nasty especially when you are easy prey...which I am right now. I plan to use this advise and say EFF 'em! Thank you all! This community really is amazing.
