    ChubRub's Plastic Surgery Thread

I've enjoyed reading everyone's plastic surgery threads, and since I'm 3 weeks out from surgery, I thought I would start my own! I'm going to make up for all of the WLS mistakes I made (not taking "before" photos or measurements), and plan to track my PS progress much better!! So here's where I am to date! I originally planned on having a CTT (circumferential tummy tuck, also known as a lower body lift) along with a BR/BL/BA (breast reduction, lift, and then adding implants back in for fullness). Plans have changed slightly since then, and I've also changed surgeons. The original surgeon I was going to does great work, but the surgery center he works for is very unorganized. I was initially willing to put up with the chaos to get that particular surgeon, but there was story after story of women getting their surgeries canceled at the last minute, and it was adding too much stress to what I want to be a really fun and exciting process. The new surgeon suggested a different approach, and I really like her thoughts on it. Instead of a CTT she wants to address only the front of me (tummy and breasts) so that she can remove more skin from my tummy and leave me in that post tummy tuck hunched over position. With the CTT she wouldn't be able to take as much off the front b/c of the posterior incision. So my goal for round 1 is to look great from the front! LOL!! I really like how she explained it, and am excited! Also I'm now down to a 34D, and the lift itself will reduce a little bit, so now I'm just a BL/BA (no more BR). I've completed my pre-op testing (mammogram, chest xray, EKG, bloodwork), and will head down to Florida next week. I covid test upon arrival then report to the office on 1/6 for my pre-op visit. Surgery is on 1/12, and she wants me to stay in town for at least 4 weeks, but better yet would be 6 weeks after surgery. Since I'm working from home due to Covid anyway, and have a place to stay in Florida, I'm 100% on board with the stay requirements! Something good to come out of Covid!! LOL!!! So that's where I am for now, and look forward to updating with my progress as the weeks go by!!

    inches instead of pounds?

I never tied actual numerical measurements to my measurements.. BUT... the day before my surgery I pulled out some string and wrapped it around my belly, hips, thigh, arm, etc. and cut them exactly to the size.. I attached masking tape to each piece to label what was what measurement and keep them all in my backpack. I pull them out every now & then and can re-wrap around each place and see the MAJOR difference in size. Though I've never actually measured, I still can compare so easily.

I agree with above Chicken NO GO - Seems lot of us had problems with chicken. I would say Hamburger, Shrimp, fish to start. Soft Protiens. Even though you are going to test your tool trust us all Take you time DO not overeat or you will pay for it. Once you get the hang of it will never be a problem but you are new to this and the learning curve has not started.

    Pre-op liquid diet is Bullsh*t!!!

I know exactly what you mean about just wanting to crunch something. I did end up doing gum and a few ice pops. I am now post-op and still on liquid diet. Luckily not clear liquids so I can have cream soup and stuff like that. My wife made me an enchilada soup tonight and blended and strained it, but holy crap it would have been amazing with the tortilla chips my kids were making nachos out of!!!

True. In the end it's always a question of "how big is the price one has to pay for it". If you can maintain a BMI in the normal range or maybe even in the being-slightly-overweight range rather effortlessly what's the point of trying to white knuckle your way to a BMI of e. g. 21? If we're being honest we're no longer talking about "health" then. We're talking about "vanity". Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with wanting to lose more weight because of a little vanity but be honest and stop hiding behind the word "health" once a normal weight is reached and it doesn't hurt to be aware of the price one might have to pay for it either. For many patients the decision to lose some more "vanity weight" might boil down to "Do I want a life or a diet and an exercise plan?" I'm dropping again the term "best weight possible". For some, that might indeed be that BMI of 20. For others it might be the BMI of 27 or 28 or higher, depending on starting BMI and life circumstances. Usually surgeons and dietitians are more realistic when it comes to goal weight than the patients, e. g. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18201668/
