My biggest fear is it won't work...

I was afraid my surgery would not be effective for me. But it turned out that it worked for me just like it did for others! Almost 2 years and 120 pounds lost later, I am now moving into maintenance and planning for how I will avoid significant regain. It'll work if you work it - by that I mean, surgery makes it easier to lose weight but you do have to build good habits as well.

What to bring to the hospital?

Phone, charger, and chapstick. You will sleep the whole time, so enjoy it!!! I wore comfy clothes there, changed into hospital gown when I got there, and then wore the same clothes home again the next day! Best of luck to you!!

Surgery is just one part. You have to be willing to put in the work and effort to change a lifetime of bad habits. For the first month or two you will probably struggle to meet goals set by your doctor or dietician to get your protein and water goals. But, that should be your number one task as it will give you a good foundation to build healthy habits. Exercise is also a big part. Do what you can an work at doing more. If you realize that you get out of this what you put into it, you will be on the right path. Change is a scary thing, but it can also lead to great things.

Not eating anything actually can slow down your progress. I would also find a way to get in water, broth, sugar free jello, crystal lite, the cirkul bottle, there are so many options out there, if you are not getting in the water or your protein you are not helping your body lose the weight. Can you sit down with your dietitian and go over some other diet options? I am sure its extremely frustrating and painful but maybe they can help you come up with some options for you that sound appealing ???

    The post op pain

I am 65 had surgery 2 mos ago and I ,too, thought I was dying with the pain It turns out I picked up some wicked stomach virus at the hospital which I bought home to my husband. Tell your surgeon not the interns that come by in rounds Tell her or him how bad the pain is. They can give you something as it is not normal to hurt so much I had 8 surgeries in my 65 years but that virus knocked the crap outta me. Everyone was pushing me to drink drink drink I couldn't hold a sip. PLEASE call your surgeon ASAP good luck and God Bless

    Anyone for Jan/ Feb 2021

I understand you’re nervous, and it’s normal. Just follow up with your provider and the surgeon who’s gonna perform your surgery then you should be ok.

    Feeling weak/rubber legs

I agree it's your H2O. I use EnduroPacks Liquid Electrolytes spray in my H2O. I was getting bad leg cramps at night when I was first out of surgery. This knocked them out. It's a small bottle and you put 10 squirts in your water. Good stuff. You can get it on Amazon.
