    Sleeve to Bypass & hungry?

Hi all! I went from sleeve to bypass. Didn’t have hunger with the sleeve. Had bypass on 11/2 and I’m starving. Anyone experience this? Is it just because it hard to get enough protein or will I feel this hungry once I’m on soft foods on the 16th?

    Removal 5+ years ago

Hi all, I had my lap band removed over 5 years ago and then got a sleeve. In the last 6 months I have had discomfort around my old port area that has gotten worse and worse. Has anyone else had tge same experience? And if so how were you treated?

Appreciate all these responses! I hope my post will be helpful to those in similar situations who are researching the surgery. And yes, for clarity, I kneW Bypass wasn't going to be the cure. But I still... hoped. Or thought it would make it easier to take control of that part of the eating issue. It really doesn't. What it haS done is shone a bright light on my addiction... because I immediately feel ill and swear it's not worth it in the throes of nausea... and then seem to lose that resolve a few hours later when I magically feel fine again. Before surgery I never had that kind of instant, black and white feedback. I've never spoken with a therapist about my food issues. But the encouragement in these responses makes that option sound promising. Thank you!

The changes we don't talk about

Some of my unexpected changes: 1. I'm cold all the time. 2. I feel disoriented in my new body (almost like my old brain was transplanted into someone else's body). 3. I do think shopping has replaced eating as my go-to self-soother. It's a habit I need to break. 4. It's amazing how much more respectful and kind health care professionals are to me now that I am normal weight. It's like all of a sudden, I am a regular person who deserves medical care. Crazy. 5. I get catcalls and random men hit on me from time to time. Rather than making me feel pretty, it makes me uncomfortable. I think that's it!

    Recovery experience for roux-en-y

Keep in mind that I still have a lot of weight to lose, but I have definitely had improvements in mobility. It's a lot easier to climb stairs without carrying an extra 120 pounds! Easier to get in and out of chairs, etc. My knee and foot pain has improved a bit, but it's also counteracted by the fact that I'm exercising more. I also have better flexibility -- for example, no problem bending down to tie my shoes. My blood pressure and blood glucose are now on the low side of normal with no medication. And that's all on top of the benefits of not always being the fattest person in the room, being able to fit in chairs, if I ever fly again I won't need a seatbelt extension, I can buy clothes from some mainstream brands (still XL or XXL, but in brands that don't make clothes as big as I used to be).

Any 300lb men? How much have you lost?

I wasn't quite to 300, but similar starting BMI (5'9", 284 lbs HW). Surgery 9/21, weighed in 218 today, which is lighter than I have been in 20 years. Before, I was tired all the time and everything hurt. Now I am much more active, my BP is much lower, and I am wearing L pants and XL shirts for the first time in many years. I have about 30 lbs to go, but I think that goal is in reach. I'm glad I did this. Today, I put on my "skinny" jeans, meaning they were the ones I was hanging on in case I got thin again. They were too loose and I need to go down a size.
