    Accountability Group

I had my VSG surgery in April 2017 & kept the weight off until you guessed it...Covid coupled with 2 back to back injuries. I’m now up 38 lbs from my lowest weight it 27 from where I was really maintaining. I feel really down and need to reset it all: track my protein, start my vitamins etc. I’ve let slider foods & poor snacking choices in & need them out! I need some help with accountability & just a group I can turn to when I get the cravings & give in: after dinner or after 3:00. I would like to share my food log so I am committed to tracking. Are there any groups I can join or anyone want to commit with me?

Thank you for your reply! How did you start? I’ve tried a couple times and only make it 2 days then I let something slip and by day 4 all my efforts are gone ☹️

    18months post op- weight loss??

Hi. I've only been losing about 3lb per month since 10 months post op. Then I stopped losing for 3 months then it started again but I can go 3 weeks and not lose anything then suddenly on week 4 I will lost 3lb. Like you say it takes forever. I am sticking to the protein but wasn't told anything about water and I know I don't drink enough. I only have between 600-800 calories a day anyway so don't think I should cut down more???

    Whey isolate protein powder

Hi, I usually use genepro just for the texture and lack of extra taste, less calories and more protein. I did try Iso (without the taste) but I quickly stocked up again on my genepro. I'm working on adding more protein but the last labs I had done, the Dr said to up them by 25% over the ones I was given because the bypass will lose some of the nutrients. My protein now is around 80-90. I get about 40 of that from genepro and the rest from what I eat. Everyone is really different with these surgeries and if it works for you, you stick with that. As long as it's ok'd by your NUT and labs are ok, go with what you like.

I''ve never had dumping syndrome and don't really know how long it lasts but I wouldn't think it would last this long. Call your doctor's office. Take some tums. I'm guessing you never want to "dump" again.😀

    14 days after WLS

Stalls are normal and part of the process. You've just hit your first one. Relax. It's okay. Stick with the protein and water and you'll be losing again in no time.

    Daytime Napping

I nap every day and can't sleep at night but I don't think it's because the daytime naps keep me from sleeping. I have both anxiety and depression and I take Ambien for sleeping at night. I had it before the WLS too, though, so I don't think it's WLS-related for me.

My biggest gift to myself is my upcoming sleeve on the 22nd! I also LOVE headphones, I wear them to walk, mow the grass (and we have a mini farm so we mow A LOT), Zumba...so dh got me some apple air pods. I’m a loyal Apple fan. Phone, MacBook, iPad, Apple Watch kind of people so they were fitting. I love my Apple Watch. I have the 3rd generation and it’s still going strong. I have no complaints! I like it when I take the kids to the Y, I can sit in the pool with the little ones and still get my text and stuff without having to worry about it ruining getting wet!

After my initial consultation I started making changes to my lifestyle and eating better. I ended up losing 78 pounds between then and my surgery date (mid March to mid September). I didn't at any point think that hey maybe I won't need to do the surgery, but I wanted to get myself in a good place to allow it to have the best chance of success.
