Last January I started this journey. I started to get the tests done and then part way through as we all know Covid stopped almost everything. Then in August I started getting the remainder of my tests complete. And today I scheduled my surgery! Still have a few appointments for pre op and to meet with the surgeon to discuss which procedure I will have. But as long as a resurgence of Covid doesn’t happen till next year I will be having my surgery on December 14th. Hopefully enough time to recover and feel better before Christmas and my one son’s birthday on the 30th.
Still not sure how to feel. It all happened so fast after nothing happening for so long. I know the surgery will be best now as I am Pre-diabetic. Blood pressure is easily controlled by meds and I’m still relatively young at 43. For being 320 that’s really the limit of my health problems so I know it’s a good time. Plus I have 5 kids and a wife to provide for and be around for.
Sorry for rambling. Just trying to process it all right now.
Congrats! But, being on the pre-op diet during thanksgiving... I don't envy that. It'll be hard! I felt hungry CONSTANTLY on the pre-op diet. I did lose 16 pounds in that two weeks though so... was definitely worth it.
You already have your classes done though. I still have to do those. If it’s the same time frame you should be able to get by the end of November. 🤷🏼♀️
I plan to take the first available appointment in anything they require. I took the first class group they offered and plan to tell them that I am ready when they are. My classes will end December 23rd. Merry Christmas to me I guess lol. And I’m hoping to be post op by mid January.
did you have to do a psych eval?sleep study?
kaiser is so different from other insurance requirements with their in house classes etc. however I have read that their success rate is great because of all the hoops you have to jump through
+1 for the chapstick
i also brought a bottle of biotin spray for the unbelievably sore/dry throat that i woke up with after the surgery.
(everything else I brought was left untouched in my overnight bag...well except my phone)
Did you get the sleeve or bypass? A 4 week liquid diet is BRUTAL. I totally understand what you're saying - I barely liked a lot of the liquid stuff to begin with... flavor fatigue sets in real quick. Hang in there -- eventually this will be all but a bad memory to you. It will come to an end eventually.
Going against the norm ............. I am a sicko for Mickey D's
do the journey and yes once in awhile you can do a double cheeseburger. Now for me the double quarter ponder super sized is over but a happy meal once a month is still a option
but wait for now to early
That is really unkind. you've lost weight and gotten healthier. I'm sorry they aren't being more supportive, you have so much to be proud of! be kind to yourself.
