    Keeping food warm/cold

Honestly, it used to take me soooooo long to eat a meal that I eventually just got used to eating lukewarm/cold food. I'm two years out, and even now I'll just eat leftovers straight from the fridge. But if this not for you, there are mini crock pots you could use (or the aforementioned mug warmer). Also, you could try to eat out of insulated bowls?

    Telling the Kids

I initially told my kids (11 & 13) I was having another surgery to help my back get better (had two previous back surgeries) and they were going to remove some tissue that might be causing my pain. Eventually I told my oldest the whole truth, he was kind of impressed with the non-lie-lie and thinks it’s cool he’s one of the few people that know. I haven’t told the youngest yet because he’s oblivious to anything that’s not Fortnite related........ Edit: I showed him a pic of the part of my stomach they removed and he thought it was the coolest thing ever.

    Anyone November 2020

Congrats on your date. Try making your own sugar free popsicles form the sugar free mixes like Chrystal Light. There is only one brand of sugar free popsicles at my local store so homemade works well as a substitute.

I really appreciate all of the kind words and advice that everyone has given me. I am definitely going to get out of here within the next few days, and I know that there is a counselor on campus, so that might be a good idea for me to look into. I feel a lot better now and certainly feel less bad about focusing on my own success. Everyone here is very kind and supportive and I am really happy to have found these forums. I may end up deleting this post later on since it is fairly specific to us and I do not want her to find it and then try to start a fight. And for a small update; As of right now, she is throwing a pity party, and when I spoke to her to try to keep things calm between us she just gave me a short response in a sad voice. Again thank you to everyone who posted with advice, it was really needed and it was good to hear it from the perspective of people who really know what wls is like. I hope everyone has a wonderful day and a wonderful week!

    Anyone November 2020

I'm scheduled for Nov.2. So far I purchased 2oz plastic cups with lids so I can make and freeze small portions of pureed foods and broths. I also got some plastic medicine cups to portion out liquids. I see my surgeon next week for my pre-op visit and will learn what kind of diet I'll be on before hand. I also bought one of those medication organizers so I can track of which vitamins to take daily. This weekend I'm going to make a big batch of beef broth to freeze. Clothes during Weight Loss

wear them as long as you can, and then pick up some items from second hand stores or the cheap sale racks at WalMart. You are going to drop at least a size every month, so spend as little as you can, Fortunately for me, the hospital provides the scrubs I wear at work, so I never had to buy work clothes. Sure was fun to watch the sizes drop from XXL to SMALL!!!!!!!!!! It's a great time to rethink your final wardrobe - like what color palette you would like. I often bought large clothes just because they fit - not necessarily because they went with anything else I had. It was so fun to get rid of the color catastrophe and choose pieces that complemented each other. Makes my closet smaller and much more coordinated.

Couldn’t enjoy waking up in recovery room knowing operation was complete. So sad. So horrific Anyone have severe pain post op. I woke up in operating room. Crying with severe pain. Wondered why I had this surgery. Wondered what happened. Thought I was dying. I said to person next to my bed I need pain meds. She said your going to be getting pain meds. Or we gave you pain meds. It was horrible. I wasn’t being helped. I would rather be knocked out. I was so looking forward to coming to in the operating room knowing I survived my operation and it was over. But this was horrific. Why did I have to be in such pain. This continued . . . Transferred to room with pain. Had to constantly request pain meds. I shouldn’t have had to deal with so much pain.
