Meh. I may have them with dip or pâté, though. But only because eating dip or pâté by itself is weird. 😂

    Meds

My surgeon didn't prescribe anything until after my surgery. He called in the prescriptions before I was discharged and I picked them up on my way home. I hardly needed any of them (besides the acid blocker). Didn't touch the pain meds.

    Hate bypass

I had the RNY about 7 months ago for the same exact reason, the GERD was unbarable. I also gained a little weight back from eating carbs to try and stop the burning. I lost about 25 lbs pretty quickly after surgery, but havent lost a lb in the last 3 months. I am happy with my loss and am about the same weight i was at lowest with sleeve. Sometimes I miss me sleeve because the full feeling just isnt the same. Sometimes I think i eat a bit more because I dont have it. But in reality I think im eating about the same.

Can you NOT do the pre-op diet?

I think the important thing is to be honest with your surgeon, which you have been! I've heard tales of people having too fatty of a liver for surgery, and also tales of those who needed an extra incision so the surgeon could lift the liver. I don't know anyone first hand who this has happened to, so can't say how often it happens. It's like the urban legends they us when we are in pre-op! Best of luck to you!!!

    Today's Dilemma!

As a parent, I would be extremely hurt if my child didn't tell me they were having surgery. Any surgery. A parent may not like some of your choices but I would think they would want to be there for you. And a reasonable discussion of the pros and cons would educate them. Parents aren't just people, no one will love you like a parent. I didn't tell people, but I told the ones I love and love me, but I also made it very clear that this was happening and it wasn't their decision to make.

Can anything be done for someone like myself that has fallen off the wagon? I had gastric bypass in nov of 2010 and within the last year and a half put it back on after my Gma died.
