    Aetna - Approved!

I switched to Aetna starting 9/1/20 since I was denied by IBX (after they said it would be covered). I got the call this morning that I am approved already! My surgeons office submitted the paperwork on Friday. I did Optifast for the dietician appointments so I could get the 12 appointments in 3 months instead of 6 months. My surgery date is October 14! 7 months later than expected but finally happening!

If the program is protein shakes, then this is what was agreed to pre-op. At least, I agreed to my post-op program before surgery. Does anyone NOT know what their plan is post-op? Unfortunately, not enough people actually think about and ask detailed questions about their early post-op programs. Like a typical 5 year old I asked "why?" a lot. By time I had surgery, I understood Doc's thinking so I understood how to replace one example of something with a different thing that also satisfies Doc's program. I think most docs go with protein drinks or liquids because they think it will be easier. It doesn't always turn out this way. Putting energy into whatever the plan calls for *is* worth the energy. But, you are right, it is about finding a way that works... WITH the Doc. Which get's us to advocating for ourselves when difficulties arise. Make a plan together, make a plan together for monitoring, make a plan together for what happens. When changes are made with the Doc, you are still on program. Tek

    The Struggle is Real

only your SX can tell you if you have stretched your stomach with a scan. and there is no way of shrink the stomach or pouch except for sx. You can however reset your brain.... i've had to do this a few times over the years.

Good points and considerations that helped me to move forward with conversion to RNY rather than play Russian Roulette with a preventable cancer

    DON'T DO IT

Very dramatic story, very detailed, NICE TRY to dupe people. So many details piled up together (grenade-looking drain, colostomy bag, stomach stent, many bags taken out of the taxi on return from hospital - like returning from Caribbean vacation etc etc). BTW there is NO Dr.Kantner as bariatric specialist anywhere in Virginia...hehe...and another 20 or so discrepancies i found in this story.
