This all sounds logical & If you've begun the process, more than likely you are seriously *thinking* about going through with it. No one else has to live in your body so as always, the choice is yours alone, but I personally would only take bariatric surgery advice from a Bariatric Surgeon (same for Neuro, Cardiology or any specialization) I bet anyone would be hard pressed to find family & friends telling them to continue to walk on a broken ankle, struggle to see without glasses or leave a dangerous bacterial infection to run it's natural course because that's what nature intended. In fact in our times modern medicine and technology, it's commonly understood that intervention is often necessary to live an optimal life. Do whatever gives you that option. Good Luck ♥️ Side Bar: I personally believe the stigma, fear and disapproval surrounding bariatrics can be born from the perception that an obese person has fallen to the vices of greed, gluttony and sloth. These semi subconscious ideologies are deeply rooted in our Westernized society as seen in the parabolic work of Dante Alighieri or philosophical writings of Thomas Aquinas.

Thanks, everyone! Oddly, I got onto the scale a few hours later and it read 209.5 - which is more like where I should be. I'm guessing it has to be the scale, but the stupid thing is brand new! I bought it when I started this journey, so I'm not sure what happened.

    Any bike suggestions?

Just keep at it and don’t over do it. Finding the right saddle and getting it set up right can be a bit tricky but you’ll get there, the padded shorts will help a bunch. Getting out of puff on hills is normal for us more luxuriously padded folk - that’s why cyclists are all ridiculously thin. To make it easier just make sure you’re using your gears properly and don’t try and be a hero, try and keep the same rhythm regardless of slope by using the correct gear. It all takes a bit of time to get the right technique but you’ll get it.

VSG to RNY due to Gerd

Yikes! I am having my Nissen Fundoplication with metal banding revised to an RnY on Wednesday. I had severe GERD and a large Hiatal Hernia. The Fundoplication worked for about 2.5 years but now the GERD is back and I have another hernia that developed above the fundoplication. This sounds like it's going to be...not fun.😰

VSG to RNY due to Gerd

I haven't had revision, but I've been hanging out on bariatric sites for the last 5-7 years. It does seem to work for most people, but of course you'll find outliers. Sorry to hear about the above responder's complications, although fortunately, as with virgin surgeries, those seem to be pretty rare.

Things I won't miss about being fat!

I do NOT miss: - Boxy clothes. - My husband’s disappointed glances. Now he wants to touch me more all of a sudden :-). He never said anything out of line, but I don’t miss those occasional glances... - Inner thigh rashes and zits. - Hiding behind people in photos. - Only liking photos of me taken from the neck up. - Saving smaller clothing sizes for “one day”. Now I can actually wear them. - Pot lucks & buffets. Yeah... no thanks. An all-you-can-eat place would be a complete waste of money for me now, anyway. - Car seatbelts riding up around my neck. - The waddle my walk was developing. - Weak bladder control. I can “hold it” a lot longer now. As a result, I have less issues with odor after near misses. I know... TMI - Hot flashes. Somehow they have disappeared. Interesting.

    Changes in relationships PO

I don’t buy into the jealousy or haters gonna hate excuses. I try and see the best in people. Do you remember how you felt 75-100 pounds heavier? I was very insecure with myself. (I believe) People feel vulnerable when things/people change around them. Sometimes they avoid people who change because it might bring up feelings of inadequacy or force them to look inward which might be uncomfortable for them. All you can do is be yourself and hope you reconnect someday.
