    NSV & first vacation experience

I am almost 6 months post op and took my first vacation this week (Drove up to Tahoe). I went with some friends who did not know about the surgery but knew I was actively losing weight and trying to eat healthier and it wasn't awkward at all. I didn't snack, but I did eat some meals I shouldn't have. But between watching how much and exercise, I was down just over 2 lbs for the week. In the past, anytime I vacationed I would be up so I'm super excited. I had some great NSVs while I was out. - Hiked almost every day - around 5 miles, intermediate hikes, at elevation. Still hard, but I did it. - Kayaked, and was able to get in and out easily. - They had standard size bath towels in the bathroom, and it wrapped all the way around me without a gap! - It was my birthday and I didn't have any cake, and really didn't miss it. I tried alcohol for the first time since surgery. I had a glass a wine a couple of times and did fine. However, I had about 1/3 of a margarita and felt awful. I don't think I full on dumped, but I think if I had drunk any more I would have. It's the first time I've had any amount of sugar so lesson learned. I'm going back to not drinking for a while (it will continue to be an occasional event going forward).

Texas has stopped all elective surgeries due to high hospitalizations due to Covid-19. I suspect other states with big resurgence of cases will do the same, Hope it doesn't happen to any of you but be prepared. Your surgery date may get postponed. Greetings All. May I please have a few suggestions and some encouragement? I was doing well since having my sleeve done on 6/5. Until On 6/22, I was 23lbs down. Then, I had a few hiccups. On 6/22, I had to go back into the hospital. I was not able to put anything in, and even vitamins came back up. I stayed in the hospital for three days. I was put on fluids for dehydration and prednisone for a swollen esophagus. I was discharged on 6/24 and had put on 8lbs of water weight. Discharge orders were for me to return to liquids and puree. Yesterday was my last day on prednisone and I have been back to exercising. Today, that fluid retention weight is off, but I have not lost anymore. I need to keep losing! Too early for this!! PS, I cannot [emoji102] at another Ensure or Boost. My Protein intake is terrible! I am playing around with a lot of things..... I cannot find anything palatable! I know I have to be patient with my body, but [emoji3061]. 6/5/2020 - Beginning weight - 272lbs 6/22/2020- 249lbs 6/28/2020 - stuck on 250lbs! Thanks!!!![emoji854] Sent from my Note 9

    First pre-op meeting, questions

Research papers have documented the fact that psychiatric problems (unless schizophrenia or other psychotic history) ARE NOT a factor in success/failure in bariatric surgery. The big issue is food addiction and if you tend to eat when stressed, bored, depressed or manic. I don't know why so many using psychiatric history to deny surgery when literature is clear it is not relevant. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app

    June Sleevers Post Op

Hi I had a lapband to sleeve revision surgery on 6/15. I feel ok just tired. I’ve read others comment on here and I’m exactly the same it takes me all day to get in my protein. The only problem I’m having off and on is right side pain. It comes and goes. I’m not sure if it gas pains or what. It feels like a catch or a bad cramp then it will just go away. Have any of y’all experienced this??

All I want to do is cheat on my diet

You can make zucchini "pasta". Thinly sliced with mandolin makes it easy. Make your own tomato sauce unless you can find some sugar-free. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app

See above. Just posted an update. Those protein jello shots were key. Happy to help others as I've gained so much advise as well!

    Surgery without anesthesia

Did you get your pysch eval yet? You're friends arent preparing you? It's not up to your friends to decide. If you can have anesthesia. It's up to the Dr. Lol. This isn't about pain tolerance. This is MAJOR surgery not a pipe up your butt. I think it's time to come back to reality.
